new addition!!

Yesterday when i went to work i remembered that we had recieved a new shipment of animals the day before. i love seeing all the new animals and getting to know them.

first i visited the bunnies, there was some very sweet rabbits, i am sure i will find them all great homes.

then i went to the small animals, we recieved two hedgehog babies, about ten rattie babies, some teddy bear hamsters, and a chinchilla!!!

the chinchillas are my famorite so i had to go see it!!
I opened the cage and reached in, the chin got scared and started to cherp and grunt, i eventually got it out, and boy i was suprrised to see a beautifully colored chinchilla, black as night with a light grey tummy!!! i was shocked that about the coloring because we usually only get in white and grey chins. i turned it over to view the sex and it was FEMALE!!!! As you all no, Luna is female ;). and Alone :(... so i had to take the black chinchilla home with me!!! it was all just too good to be true and I couldent just leave her.

Usually it is very hard to find female chinchillas in captivity because breeders usually keep them. males are alot more common...

i was luck to find my girls!!!

anyways i have some pics of the introducting of Luna and the new chin. they stayed in Nimbus's cage over night just till i knew they would be ok together in the larger chin cage... everything went great!!!!

i moved them to the large chinchilla cage this after noon they are just lovin it, luna is showing the new chin everything!! it is so cute!!! Luna seems alot happier!! i am so glad this worked out!

i named her Aurora, Goddess of the Dawn.

it is said that Aurora was an ancient goddess from Roman mythology more commonly called Eos who created the stars and set them out at night.

Inuit peoples of Alaska, Canada and Greenland believe that the aurora is the fire of torches lighting the way to heaven for the spirits of the dead.

Black velvets are one of the prettiest chinchilla mutations! I miss having chins. Once I am into a bigger place I am definitely getting more chins. :) Congrats on the new addition. She is beautiful!

Congratulations!!! She is absolutely beautiful. I am so glad you got Luna a friend. My girls would be lost without each other.

Cass said she's a black Velvet, but I thought she was a charcoal. Do you know what she is?

i did some research on google and i believe that Aurora fur is a Black Velvet mutation.. very pretty i think!! ;). mosaic chinchillas are my second favorite then the regular grey chins.

yup, I have named her Aurora, Eo's also known as Aurora is the goddess of dawn... I am sticking with a goddess theme when it comes to chinchilla names ;).

luna is the greek goddess of the moon. ;)

I have a Golden named Luna, and I will be keeping a puppy from my next litter, her name will be Aurora! Too funny! Great names! I also have a pup named Shimmer, just love solar names!
