View Full Version : My Micah (prayers needed)

My angel, Micah is under the weather again. :( You all know I love and charish all my furkids, but Micah lives in my heart. I've always said that if I were to die, Micah is coming with me.... ;) He's an angel...that's an understatement though.
Which is why the slightest unhappiness or pain he has hurts me too.
He hasn't been himself since around Christmas. :( He's lost his shiny coat and his mouth seems redder. (He has stomatitis)
Our vet has quit the crazy, insane clinic we used to work together at and has bought into another clinic. The current owner/founder is an EXCELLENT kitty dentist, so much so, he's accredited by the American Dental Assoc.
Micah has an appointment in two weeks for a blood draw to make sure he'll be OK for anesthesia. He's only 5, but he's not allowed to die, ever!!! She started him on Pred and Amoxi last night, so they'll be able to take xrays during the last week of January and do some major dental surgery on him.
She explained, after consulting the founder/owner/super dental vet ( ;) ), that Abys (and Meezers) get an autoimmune condition where their bodies attack and reject thier own teeth! With Micah already having IBD, I'm not surprised he has this too. :( Poor baby!!
He may have to have ALL his teeth extracted. Its not certain until they do the dental xrays (with a specific dental xray machine) to see what's going on in his cute little mouth.
I'm just so worried. I love that little cat more than most things in my life. It may sound crazy, but its true. He's so much to me. Each time I look at him, I smile and my heart flutters. I keep him on my desktop at work so I can look at him all day. He's my shadow and lap warmer every second when I'm at home. Everyone that has met him want to steal him from me. He is my angel....
Please pray that he'll be OK. That the bloodwork is OK and that he gets through this with ease. Just typing this out has me all teary eyed and upset. :(
He's going back on the raw diet as soon as I get the mix in the mail. I know that helps him a lot too.
Thanks guys. :)

Micah, you better be a good boy for meowmie.... look at the mess she's worked herself up into! So please me a good boy and sit still for all those pictures and smile for the X-Ray camera.
I will make sure that you have angel kitties watching over you and making sure that you'll be a-ok. We need to make sure that you'll stick around here for a very very long time!

Oh Kelly....prayers are on the way!!!! I hope Micah gets better soon.
I know just how you feel.....Abner is my "soul kitty" as I call him, just as Micah is your soul kitty.
Two of my mom's cats have the same dental condition. Cucumber and MaGee have both lost all of their teeth but have no fear they do absolutely fine......they can still eat like little horses.
Please keep us posted. {{{ hugs }}}

Oh Kelly, I'm so sorry to hear that Micah is having problems again. I know you went through so much with his (and your) IBD and everything had been going along so well.
I'll be sending out positive thoughts and prayers that everything goes well for him.
{{{hugs}}} to you because I know exactly what you mean about how close you are to him and how he is not allowed to die. :( I sure will hope and pray it doesn't come to that. :)

Gosh, poor little Micah-head! He was doing so well too! Lots of prayers on the way for this special little sweetheart. Give him the "muskrat" that I sent for him to play with...hopefully that will have him feeling frisky.
I sure hope his blood work comes out ok and that he doesn't have to have all of his little teeth removed! Poor little thing!

Micah is a beautiful boy and I will cross all my fingers and toes and all my fur gang's paws and we will pray that the tests results come out ok and he will get better real soon.
I know exactly what it is to have a soul cat and also lose him. Shoo was everything to me and there never will be another one like him.

Oh no I didn't even know about this. Poor guy... Micah will be in my thoughts and prayers... :(

Poor Micah..My BooBoo had Stomatitis and we had just about ALL his teeth out recently.Maybe 3 months ago and he's like a new cat now. He's 16 and I really thought we were going to be putting him down. He's had 3 or 4 other surgerys done on his teeth in the past few years but they obviosly needed to take more than they thought out.He never seemed to much better after each surgery until this last one.I told my vet to take ALL if necessary out.And he left a couple in but there is no signs of Stomatitis left this time. And No bad breath for the first time since he was young.I just wish they took more out on the other teeth surgerys. So if getting teeth removed,I would tell him to take any teeth out that look iffy.Just in case.It will save you money later.Good Luck and Prayers on the way for poor Micah.

Thank you for your prayers and well wishes. :)
When I drop him off, he's going to get the whole package...sealing with protective "stuff" (I forget what they call it, but it prevents the teeth from having any further damage), sealing with antibiotics, lots of pain medicine, etc. They will also have instructions to pull any/all what is needed for his comfort and health.
Luckily, my vet knows how important this boy is to me. :)

Have you had Micah checked for bartonella? This will often cause sore red gums as well. And no doubt cheaper than having all his teeth pulled. He's so beautiful. :)

Micah was checked for everything under the sun when we got him and then again by Dr H. last August. He was constantly ill and thus, went to about four different vets prior to that. Thankfully, he's healthy except for his IBD and stomatitis. His IBD has been in remission for a long time, until now.
When she runs his bloodwork, she's going to run titers for his vaccines. When we adopted him, he had FOUR vaccines when he was dumped at the shelter (by his breeder!!! ) while he had chronic diarrhea and dramatic weight loss! They made him 100 times worse. :( As a result, I don't feel comfortable giving him vaccines if he reacts, or they caused, his IBD.

4 of my cats had Bartonnella. The girls Lucy and Penny were missing teeth at such a young age and we found out it was Bartonnella. They are doing great now.Tucker had it.Being a kitten with bloody gums. And now his gums look beautiful.Like new.Rosco had it too.If I had him when he was younger he probably wouldn't have broncitis right now and need prednisone every couple days for life.Bartonella can cause so many problems.BooBoo didn't have it to my surprise with his stomatitis. But it is good to get a blood check for that.We had all my cats tested for it.I think BooBoo didn't have it because I've had him since 6 weeks old and no fleas were near him.

Prayers rising for that sweet Micah boy.
They really do fine with a couple, or no teeth at all.
Praying it doesn't come to that, but anything to keep him in you arms, will work.

Kelly, I'm sorry Micah is having problems again.
The meezer crew is sending lots of good thoughts to him and hoping for some good news from the vet.
He sounds like your 'heart' cat, like Mini is to me - so nothing is allowed to go wrong with him.
