View Full Version : Hello All!
Hi all
This is my first post here, but I have been reading all your posts for the last few days. This is a great site, I have really enjoyed all your stories and pictures.
I have 3 cats of my own, Sooty a tabby 13 years old, Bugs a tortoiseshell 10 years old, and my little kitten Twinkle also a tortoiseshell 6 months old. Once i have figured out how to put pictures on here I will post some.
I am going through a tough time at the moment, my Sooty has a cancerous growth on her face. We have seen the vets and he has advised that it could be removed but it would mean she would loose half of her face :( Even then though, he says because of the type of cancer it is it will probably occur somewhere else. He said chemo would not help and radiotherapy might help but would leave her with sores all over her face and many trips to the vets. Me and my partner have had a tough Christmas deciding what to do. We have decided not to put her through all that treatment with no gaurantees. She is happy at the moment and still her normal self, but i know that the time will come when I will have to make the decision to put her to sleep. Thats tough, but I have found this site a great help. Its great to find a site where there are so many people who are as crazy about cats as I am.
I cannot imagine not having Sooty she is my angel, she knows me very well and if I am upset she comes and licks my nose and won't leave me alone. We have a special connection.
Anyway must go. What a brilliant site this is and I will post pictures when I work out how to do it!!!!
Bye for now

Welcome to Pet Talk Nicki! My name is Vickie but I prefer to be called Slick. I'm the willing servant to Max the Persian who is 11 and Speckles the Tabby who is 17. We live in BC, Canada.
I'm so sorry to hear about Sooty and if I were in your shoes, I'd probably do the same thing. I've never had to make "the decision" but lots of people here have, and when the time comes you will get all the love and support you need.
Oh yes, and beware...this site is very addictive.;)

I also just acquired Doogie(kitty) in November. I also have a 20 year old Arabian horse that I've had since he was 10 months old. We'll look forward to seeing pics of your sweeties.

Welcome to PT Poo!!
I'm sorry to hear about Sooty. The only advice I can offer you is this...as long as Sooty is happy, eating and isn't in any pain, enjoy the time you have left with her. It'll mean so much to you both.
You and Sooty will be in my thoughts and prayers. We're here if you need to vent.
(((hugs))))

Hi! The picture needs to be on the web somewhere, so that it has a URL to paste between the img tags. But you can post it as an attachment - just make sure it's a jpg file, and use that feature.
Welcome to Pet Talk, Sooty'll be in our prayers.
Thanks for the advice Karen I will try again now. If it works the picture is of Sooty.
Hooraay have got the hang of it now, so heres Twinkle and Bugs. Hope you like them.

I'm so sorry about Sooty.I too went thru the same with my 16 year old KiKi a couple months back.He had cancer in the jaw and the vet said half the jaw would have to be removed but they also said even if it was a young cat that noone should put their pet thru this removal. It's painful even after the cancer removal and not comfortable at all.And brings their spirits down forever.I'm glad you made the right choice.
I really am so sorry for what you are going thru.:(
But I'm so happy you joined pettalk. We will all be here for you.

Welcome to Pt Nicki! You have lovely cats, and we all (well many) understand all too well the pain of losing old friends. I do a lot of rescuing, and have a serious weakness for special needs kitties especially. These are the ones I tend to hog all for myself. ;) Hope you stick around here....as others have said, we'll all be there for you when it's Sooty's time to cross the Rainbow Bridge. Give them all some kisses for me please. :) Jan

So sorry to hear about Sootty, but love him as hard as you can. That is the most important thing.
My crew is in my siggy but I also foster, so there are usually about 10 more in the house at any one time.

You're cats are absolutely adorable.
I am so sorry to hear about your precious baby Sooty. Enjoy the time you have with her. We are a very good support group when someones kitty goes on to Rainbow Bridge, as we totally understand what you will be going through and how you will be feeling.
