It seems there will be a new foster in Luckenbach-land tomorrow. But she comes with a sad story. As I hear it, she was part of a TNR but was not released due to a suspected URI. Turns out that this 4 month old calico girl is actually terminally ill. I don't yet know ALL the details, but she has both nasal problems and a heart condition that may allow her to live a year. Initially they were going to work on socializing her, but now feel that she is not suitable for adoption and socializing her would not be a high priority. She just needs a place to be safe, warm and loved for as long as she has. This is where I come in.

Pictures as soon as I can......don't worry....I wonder what she looks like too :D.

She will have a wonderful life with you! What a truly sad story. I know you will give her love and attention (even if she doesn't want it) while she is with you. What is her name?

Jen, I would do the same .... and I am so happy that you have agreed to do this for her ... but oh the heartache you will have on her behalf in the end!:( We will all be here for you, Jen ... and help you share in celebrating the life that she still has to enjoy and receive love!;)

Jen, GOD BLESS YOU!!! Love her hard for the time you will have her. To me, the most important thing is that they KNOW they are loved and have been loved when they get to RB. It sounds like you are going to be this ones true angel, sent to take care of her. It will be so rough on you but you know that. Love her while you can and tell her she has the PT family's prayers and support. (So will you!)

I can't wait to see pictures! Hope that the little girl lives a whole lot longer than anyone thinks. My Thumbelina is a tiny miracle girl. Multiple birth defects, and still going strong over 6 years later. :D

I am not sure I could do what you are doing, but I sure do admire YOU for it!! And, I am thankful to witness this from where I am. I am very happy that this girl will know she is loved to the end - which is what I wish for ANY kitty. They all deserve it.

Guess this is why I gave up nursing too - drained me dry:rolleyes:

This kitty, who was named Angel, is in a cage until she is just a little bit more trusting. Seems like it won't take very long at all. She is beautiful!!

A little more on her conditions.....
One of her nasal passages is blocked towards the top inside of the nostril. Possibly a membrane thickening from an untreated URI while she was in the colony. The vet says even though it is possible to scope it, it will most likely return. AND, she has heart arythmia (sp?). Her little heart beats abnormally. :( They MAY be able to ultrasound the heart, but they believe it to be genetic which means not a whole lot of hope for treatment. (this is all 2nd heand, I have not talked to a vet myself).

But attached is her first picture, soon to be followed by more as she gets more confident.

edit You can't see it in the picture, but her ear is tipped. (she was scheduled for return to the colony)

She is beautiful!!

And she looks so healthy. Just one of her nostrils is blocked? Unless she got a URI, that shouldn't be a problem - she has one to breathe through. What about this arrhythmia - did anyone tell you the source, or specific type?

She weezes when she breaths, especially when she is excited.

I don't think they know the source of the arrhythmia that is where the ultra sound would come in, but the cost might prevent the procedure.

I may take her in to my own vet for a second opinion at some point. I have copies of her vet record so she could look at them.

She might have a serious problem; then again, she might not.

A couple of years ago, our Vet detected a murmur in Duffy. He had an USN, and it turned out the murmur was no big deal. He just gets upset when put in the carrier and taken to the Vet. It's a functional murmur - just like mine.

I'm sending prayers and good thoughts that Angel does well. In your care, she will feel safe and secure and that's half the battle sometimes.

Oh gosh Jen, she is absolutely beautiful.

I give you credit girl for taking on this sweetheart. You are a much stronger person than I Jen, as I don't think I could handle taking in a kitty that will be taken too soon.
Angel has found her ANGEL in you Jen. Bless you.

I hope a miracle does happen for this precious kitty and her time on earth will be longer than expected. It has happened before.:)

Oh Jen! Good for you! Wonder if she is doing ok otherwise? Taking meds from you and pooping ok and all? Give Angel kisses from all of us or at least blow them her way! I suppose if the heart thing is genetic, there are others in the colony with same problem. UTI's must go unnoticed all the time! How would a feeder know? Well, she is in your care now, praying for you both!

She is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! I'm so glad you took her in Jen. I have a funny feeling that we will be seeing pictures of Angel for years to come. At least I hope so anyway. She has found warmth, food, and most important of all....LOVE!!! Nothing heals better than that. :D
From the looks of her Jen she will be an easy one to fall in love with.:)

Angel purred for me already and pushed into my hands to get pets, so she should fit in in no time.

And I found out that her right nostril is completely blocked and her left is partially blocked. hense the struggle to breathe. They are hoping that she learns that she can breathe through her mouth.
