View Full Version : Tigris to the white coats!

Christmas time: I came home late from the office yesterday and in the evening Siegmar and I noted that the Tigris boy went to the litterbox every ten minutes only leaving some drops. This morning it is less then some drops and so we are off to the vets now :(
He is meowing and definitely not happy. Fister, Boots, Mishi, Storm- please think of us:(

Poor Tigris!! This is no fun thing hey, on the day before Christmas.... . Be a good boy at the white coats; maybe you will get an extra X-mas treat if you behave well!!
Good luck with Tigris, Barbara! Sounds like he has an UTI...:(

Everything ok for the moment.
Looks as if we noticed it early. Tigris' bladder was empty so he didn't need to be catheterized:)
He got a depot injection of antibiotics which should help him over the holidays. Poor boy was yowling all the time, scaring two dogs who were in the waiting room as well.
After we came home from the vet's we had to leave again to make sure the humans won't starve during Christmas time. When we came home Tigris said hello to the door, then went to the litterbox and had a not so big but ok pee.:)
I bought a chicken leg extra for him that will be boiled so that he can drink chicken broth. He's not a big drinker but he has to to get rid of the UTI.

Oh poor Tigris boy, it does sound like the start of an UTI, but you're so lucky to have a mommy who noticed right away. :) We hope the antibiotics will help - seems like it already has worked a bit. :)
Tigris will you tell your mom and dad to get some Hills S/D, that is supposed to dissolve the crystals. Fister says he's sure you'll like it, as there a bit more fat in it, so it's tastier. ;)
Barbara and Siegmar, just keep an eye on him, I'm sure he'll be OK during Christmas.
We're sending hugs, kisses and scritchies - and wishing you a wonderful Christmas with tons of goodies! :D

Oh no, poor Tigris. It's not fun to be sick at Christmas.
Jazz sends you lots of headbumpies and says since she's gotten so much pratice with the kittens she now knows how to give a wonderful grooming. She sends her love and hopes you feel better soon.
Merry Christmas sweet Tigris.

Oh no, poor Tigris, and poor Barbara and Siegmar! At least you caught it early enough so the vet was still open. Hopefully the antibiotics will do the trick and this nasty UTI will be gone before you know it.
The antibiotics worked the first time on Tubby, but Peanut had to go back for a second round.
Head bumpies to you Tigris, hopefully you'll feel better real soon!

Tigris is much better today- although when he pees it's not the normal flood but a smaller litter cookie.
Problem is he doesn't like the chicken soup (after some first slurps:( )
I definitely do not want to suggest the import of clam juice but big Tigris being a finicky eater our invention is challenged.
He says thank you for all the Get well wishes and sends extra headbumpies to Jazz:)

I don't think that Klam juze can be exported, Phred, due to restrictions on export of hazardous materials. Good try though. ;)
Glad to hear Tigris is feeling better, Barbara. It will take a few days before the pee biscuits become floods again - at least it did when Tubby had a UTI, but it will happen, and hopefully soon!
Sending head bumpies, skritchies and more get well wishes from snowy Galveston, TX! :)

Did I hear someone say Klam Juze!! Boots, I'm not sure you dad will even want to touch the can with a barge pole, let alone send it all the way to Germany. The mere thought would surely have him shivering!! Btw, I thought your dad had already used the Klam Juze!! for last years New Eve!!
However, I do believe Tigris will find it delicious, so I volunteer to send as many cans as he can drink - I'll be off to the Post office first thing in the morning. After all, European Import/Export restrictions are a bit easier to deal with - I hope. ;)
Tigris, whichever drink your mom decides to pour in your bowl, please drink up, you need a lot of liquid!! Get better, boy!! :)
Scritchies from us and purrs from Fister.

Tigris is better today and he peed more than yesterday. He wanted some water from the tap and of course he got it. He would get Evian if he asked for it ;)
My mom's doxie is here and she ate the chicken finely chopped up and she slurped the chicken broth. As a matter of fact she sneaks in the kitchen as often as she can to check whether there is cat food left:rolleyes:
I doubt that Tigris would love clam juice and Randi, if you send it it is YOUR risk:p
Tigris words: "Can you believe we have a DAWG here and she stole my CATNIP mousie and ate it:mad:  !!!!"

Oh, my dear Tigris, I missed this thread! I'm glad to hear you're better.
That is why I check often how much Pichu pees and if I notice the cookies being smaller, I follow Pichu to the litter box every time he's heading there :).

Tigris, I do hope that you have continued to get better over the past few days.
Has your dog visitor left yet? Kona knows how difficult it is to share a home with a dog!
Feel better soon, Tigris.

He looks and behaves ok and the pee biscuits have standard size now. However the drinking program has to be improved. The best thing is when he comes to the tap and wants water. I wonder whether I buy one of these fresh water dispensers.
In the meantime we tried cat milk- which made Filou happy but not our Tigris:(
The dog is gone and this time it was easier than ever. They seem to adapt to each other.
Filou was lying on the heating saying to Amber: I'm so much cooler than you;) And Tigris was close to joining Amber on the couch. maybe next time;)

Barb and Siegmar - so sorry to hear about your boy Tigris and his troubles. I hope you can find a way to flush that boy's bladder....maybe he would like to drink from crystal?
I am so glad to hear that he has improved and is delivering bigger clumps these days.
Maybe since Amber is gone, his stress level will ease up and he will visit the faucet and litter box with ease.
Hope you all had a wonderful holiday.
Happy New Year to you and Siegmar!

Barbara, I'm glad that Tigris' puddles gets bigger. :) However, it's a good idea to give him water in a "crystal" glass, but put it in another place than where his food is. Fister won't drink if his water is right next to his food, you know. So he has a glass in a corner of our bedroom and a glass in the living room. His food in the kitchen.
Try also have some water running in the bathtub, ever so slowly - and make sure it's not noisy.
In fact, I think it's a good idea to get one of those water dispensers, you've got room for it! :)
Keep getting better, Tigris!! Scritchies and purrs from us.

What about rain water? This morning I noticed Eddie drinking rain water from the railing on the balcony and it made me think of it. They often seem to like "natural" water. And if all else fails....I do still have a bottle of clam juice....

Barbara, I'm glad to hear that Tigris is making larger pee biscuits. Hopefully you'll be able to get him to drink enough water. What kind of food do you feed him? If he only eats dry then maybe you should start feeding him some dry mixed with wet food since wet food has a lot of moisture in it. This way he won't need to drink as much water.
My cats are on the prescription food by Royal Canine. It's the S/O formula and both Storm and Sunny eat dry and also dry and wet food mixed together. Cirrus and Sky prefer the dry. Now both Sunny and Storm are hooked on the wet stuff. This food also makes them drink more water and pee a lot more too. I don't mind as long as it keeps them all healthy and happy. Good luck.:)

I'm feeding wet food during day time and dry food during the night. Filou eats more or less whatever you give him but Tigris is very finicky- and he definitely prefers dry food. I'm feeding different kinds of Royal Canin and Hill's and will only buy food that helps against crystal. (I also looked for oral care formulas as both F+T build up tartar easily.)
Tigris can spend a day without eating if you only put food in the bowl he doesn't fancy. He is too too spoiled (on the other hand if he doesn't eat a day he will not starve immediately;) ).
