We caught our first baby in a trap tonight! In the time it took me to walk to my car to put something back in the car, we had one already... The gray tabby baby. It didn't freak out when it shut on him and he didn't freak when we put him in the truck to bring back to Mikes. We had the cage all fixed up ouside on Mikes patio, under the awning and he was more than willing to scoot out of the trap into the cage without any coaxing. The cage we have for him, I will get a picture of tomorrow and you can see how large it is and how well he is protected in there from the weather.. He is far more comfortable there than he was on the cold concrete under those metel containers. Of coarse, I will be over there talking to him and trying to get better pictures than the one I got tonight and maybe he'll be more use to his new surroundings and be less fearfull.. If "he" is a "HE", his name is "Wally".... want to guess WHY?

The next one will be named "Marty"....

Hi Laura,
Go Girl!!! Good job!I'm so glad you got this baby, because it is awfully cold out. Love the name...quite appropriate.

BTW, you asked if we were going to be at adoption this weekend. No we're not going back until 1/08...yipppeee!! We desperately need the break. It's been non-stop since we inc. 16 months ago, so we need the rest. However, we have taken in 3 this week. 2 black lab pups (what else), near naked from demodectic mange, poor little hearts. We named them Noelle and Joseph; and Abraham, another..what else...black lab mix. Maybe we should be black dog and kitty rescue, seems that's what everyone wants to toss away these days. Poor little angels!

Merry Christmas!

Hard to see him (?) in the trap, but he looks like a wee one! I've got a Wally & Martha (from where else) in my siggy! Both were born in the garden center some years back, and they were such sick newborns, all of one day old. There were 5, but one by one they all succumbed to the horrible URI. Wally & Martha miraculously survived, and after all I went through with round the clock bottle feedings etc. they became mine! Their knicknames are "Mama's Shoes" because they're always together, and under my feet! :D Good luck on catching more Laura, you'll be addicted in no time! ;) :D :p :)

Christmas day.....Update.... Since we trapped Wally, we haven't tried to trap anymore... thought we would give them time to settle down after loosing their buddie and build up more trust in us.. The Siamese was in one of those shelters we made for them tonight when we went to put down the food but ran when we approached. It was SOOoo cold here today, rain, sleet and snow.

Wally is doing fine, eating really good, drinking his water and using his box. I feel, and so does MIke that he is a tame baby and was recently dumped. He has yet to hiss or jump at either of us when we mess around in his cage. He is just so scared that I want to hold him and assure him that he will be alright and will not have to fiend for himself anymore.
