I have been out most of the day, and when I was home earlier, I noticed she was breathing and shaking a bit odd... but chalked it up to being cold. Then tonight I was dishing out treats and she limped to get one,and stayed back a bit. Normally she is the one that's up front and center begging for treats and stealing from the others.
I picked her up, and she screamed :( I tried to feel her legs and she screamed. When she sits up, she holds her left paw up as if it's hurt, but she wimpers if you touch her right leg while laying down. She hasn't really moved since I noticed that she is hurt. :(
I have no idea what she would have done to hurt herself... attempt to jump up onto the banister the way the boys do? Miss jumping onto the top bunk of the bunk beds? Could she have broken anything??? Or is it most likely she just bruised or pulled something?
I feel sooo bad. The ONE day I'm not home and she gets hurt. And then I feel so bad that she might have been hurt all day before I finally noticed it.

Oh no, poor Abby! I have no clue what to tell you . . . are you going to take her to the vet? Definitely keep an eye on her!
*kisses* to sweet Abby!
Keep us updated on how she's doing in the morning!

Poor Abby!
Is she screaming because she doesn't want to be touched, or because it hurts? That's usually how you can tell if its broken or not.
HUGS to you both.

Good question Kelly! I think its because she doesn't want to be touched. I just tried to touch her, and started by touching her hind legs and she cried. I think she probably is just hurting and wants to be left alone. I suppose I'd be cranky and yell if I had a sore spot and someone kept trying to pick me up too. :p
I took her downstairs to give her the last meal of the evening. She was playing with the food in her bowl -- like jabbing at it. Then Pouncer had some on the table above her and he knocked a few kibbles off the table, and she went running for it as if to play with it a bit. I was relieved to see her acting that way. I wanted to watch her come up the steps and get into the basket, but she snuck in without me watching.
What really got to me tonight was this: my son saw that she wasn't feeling well, and sat on the bed tenderly stroking and petting her for a good half and hour. He was sooo sweet. :) And she ate up every moment of it. If he got too close to her sore spot, she'd let out a little meow, but that was about it.

Oh dear, it does sound like little Miss Abby got a bit too curious for her own good somehow today! I'm sure she just sprained something, but if she seems worse or no better, of course, I know you will take her to the vet! Always something right before Christmas, huh?
(((HUGS))) and kissies to little Miss Abby's owie!!!;)

Poor Miss Abby, hope she is feeling better tomorrow but if not, get her to the vet to get it checked or you know YOU will end up feeling awful that you didn't....

Awww, at least she let your son get some petting in. Hope she feels better soon, whatever it is that she did to herself. Poor girl!

Oh no! Poor baby. Is she getting any better? Do you think she could have eaten something that made her sick?

Hope a visit to the White coats isn't needed. Kittens can manage to get into so much mischief. Hope all's well with Abby's leg. ;)

I'm actually now a little more worried than last night. :( She's unusually quiet and sad looking. She tried to jump out of bed and her hind legs sorta fell out from under her and she went *thunk* when she hit, the floor.... I'm imagining this is the way Laura's Amy might jump down.
I'm thinking she hurt both her front and back left side. How could she have fallen and landed so hard on her whole left side??? Did Pouncer play to rough with her? If I didn't know any better, I'd swear someone tossed her up against a wall! Thats the only way that her tender spots make any sense. Nobody in my house would even conceive of doing that, and nobody outside my son and I were home yesterday (he was home sick).
Money is super tight (ummm... like my-car-loans-and-second-mortgage-are-all-two-months-late tight) but of course I'll take her to the vet if I see she hasn't improved.

I have wonderful news! Abby is a-ok. She is still a little timid at rough play but she's playing and walking. She even jumped! I never expected her to be so normal so soon!
I wonder what she could have done to herself, but she spent the last day and a half sad and hurt looking. Yesterday was TERRIBLE! She didn't even walk 5 feet. But she woke up her normal self today! Yippie!

Poor Abby!! But I'm relieved to hear she's doing much better!
You'll probably never find out what kind of injury she had, and if she had a little accident, but it's good news that she seems to be painfree now!

Oh no! Poor Abby! But I'm so glad to hear she's doing better today. Reminds me of when Peanut was limping and I felt so horrible for her.
