Okay so here is a bit of my story (true). I came home from shopping yesturday and ran into my neihbor, she's a little slow and can't really trust 100% of what she say's. I'm not saying that thats a bad thing, I relize that everyone has there problems. I was told that the police cam to the building because they go a call saying that ALL of the dogs in the building were barking. There's 4 dogs that I know of... my 2 the people next door (Baily barks CONSTENTLY, when nobosdes home) and one up stairs. Now, I wasnt out that late Saturday night and there was no note on my door. I asked my other neihbors if my girls were loud and he said yes when he gets home, well I get home at the same time he does and yes they do go nuts when I get home, but Maggie is still a puppy and learning how to hold it. Anyway, how do I know that there telling the true or not? I typed up a not to put on my door that say's:
If the girls are loud I’m
Very sorry!

Please don’t knock on the door; it will only make it worse.
If they’re loud they probably heard a different noise or another dog. I’m trying different ways in which to keep them quiet during the day/night.
Please keep in mind that I still have a puppy that is working on her manners. Thank you!

Happy Holiday’s!

. There's not much else I can do. I leave the TV on so that they don't feel alone. There crated, (so I'll have a house when I come home). What do I do? I cant get that camera that hooks up to the internet. I need help, so my neihbors dont hate me. On the other hand why didnt they say anything nicely to be before. That makes me think that it doesnt happen all of the time. Help, please.

Do you put any Kongs in the crate (filled with frozen peanut butter, baby food, treats, chicken broth etc) for them to keep them occupied?

Yes, kongs are great, or other tough rubber toys to keep them busy. *No stuffies... they could tear them apart and eat them while you are gone*

Are they in crates near each other, or are they in seperate rooms?

well first of all try to see if they are actualy barking while you are away...and try to get the cause of it too.. so if you have a voice recorder on yoru computer or hand heald that would work great.. you need two of them.. put one inside anywhere .. and the other outside.. the outside one will record other dogs and people outside your apartment knocking whatever to prevoke your dog to bark.. and the inside one will see when your dog barks.. the recorders if you get a decent one should record for 2/4hours longer the better..

that will only help you understand your dog and why the barking is happening cus if someone is knocking on your door and thats only when he barks well tell your nabbers to stop knocking on the door and have them listen to the tapes.. and then tell them to stick it your dog is doing its job

if that is not the case .. then you can try a bark caller the one I suggest is the one that either sprays citronella out when they bark or one that makes a high pitched noise when they bark.. both are humane.. seeing you have several barkers around you I would suggest using the citronella one cus the high pitched noise one may be set off by the other dogs barking and thus be punishing your dog when he is not barking.

If they are barking ONLY when you are away, it could be that your dogs get anxious in your abscence.

Again, I HIGHLY recommend alone training. This allows the dog to cope with your abscence instead of using the quick fix.
Generally, you restrict their access to the house. I keep my dogs in the living room and yard ONLY. They don't do well in crates, so they stay in the living room with access to the yard. I close all the curtains and turn on the TV or radio to a medium volume. Then, I give the puppers a frozen Kong on their beds and leave nonchalantly. I walk around for about five minutes, then come back, take the Kongs away, and turn off the TV in one calm motion. Gradually, I increased the time. Now, my dogs are each other's stress reliever and I can leave home for 8+ hours (had to do that, unfortunately) if need be. Trust me, Alone training DOES work. I always recommend alone training any new dog. It boosts their confidence and helps acclimate them to their surroundings. You might also want to look into the DAP Diffuser and/or Rescue Remedy. Good Luck!
