Hi everyone. I was out on a walk today to go to the store. A friend had told me about two stray kittens that she had seen. I found them while I was out they are about 6 months old (same as my cat) One is black and white the other is just black. The black and white one lets me pick him up and things but the black one stands off.

I would love to take the black and white one in, or both of them. But I have to fly home to florida for three weeks fri the 17th (one week) I can not pay to take them to the vet for the things they need to fly and for thier plane tickets. It's just killing me. I found the SPCA near by but, I would still ahve to trap them and take them in. The black one doesn't seem much like it would get a home rather than be but down cause he doesn't like people. So, that's why I'm having such a hard time. But I know with winter I have to do something, since I am leaving and I feed them today who will do it whil im goneand its 15f outside and snowing?

Please help me, just ease my mind about taking them there?!

Can you appeal to your friends and relatives or your vet to take them in for you until you are back. They don't need much. Food, water, warm place.
But be sure no one mixes them with their own cats, as they are untested for disease. Maybe you could pay for their FeLV/FIV test up front, it doesn't cost much and may secure a place for them to stay.

Sorry, not much help.

Or could you put them in your current place and just have someone come in now and then to check on them and clean the litter box? You could confine them to one room if you wanted to make sure they didn't trash your whole place. One room inside with plenty of food and water will be much better than on the streets until you get back.

Good luck!

Perhaps you could build a shelter for them while you're away, and ask a few of your friends to feed them every day. :)

I posted a long time ago how we did it in our backyard, here's the thread:

I wish,that I live near you,as I would keep them,at the found Cat Hotel,as I do,the odd Kitt Sitting job,and the Found Cats,outside the door,would make sure,that they are not lonely.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I can't keep them here where I am because I am living in a extended stay hotel my husbands work pays for it. It's like a little apparement, pretty nice, but when I go home for three weeks they are not keeping my room. Me and my husband tonight feed them and made them a nice warm place to sleep, a guy in a tiny snow plow was being an asshole (sorry) and scaring them off knowing what we were trying to do. It's on a lil back ally like he couldn't wait a while. Sorry he just had me so upset and I was cold as it was 18 outside. We were with them over and hour getting them to trust us and things. We are planning to take them to the spca and looking still for other places though.

Keep the kitty prayers coming for these cuties. They are about 5 months, and atlest I feel better knowhing they had good kitten food and a warm place to sleep.

Update for the kitties. I have worked with them since I found them. I have got the black one coming out to see me and purring, and well the black and white one...he follows you around and loves the loving. I have called every place I know that's no kill, no one is taking any more in. Me and another lady whos also leaving this week for 2 weeks like me, are going to try to take them to the SPCA tomorrow. I have to do it now cause it's already -3 outside tonight. I know they are warm but they need to be inside.

Please send some prayers up for me tonight and tomorrow for Ima going to cry the whole time I do it. I'll try to get pics of them for everyone, jsut to share they joy they gave me in a few short days.

Thank you for caring for those kitties. I will pray very hard that someone will find them in the SPCA and give them a REAL home for the holidays.

You are doing the best you can given your awful circumstances! I would ask you if you want to fly them to Boston for adoption but since you can't afford all the vet stuff the airline requests, it is a moot point! (I am out of money right now or I would help you!). Let the shelter do what they can and know you gave them food and love... you are a dear for that!

I just saw this thread, and sure hope that you can find a warm safe place for these two babies before you leave. :( Are there any local vets you can appeal to, that may be willing to help you out (discounted) in finding them a home? The weather alone can cause severe frostbite, and kill them at those temps. :( I'll never forget a skinny little girl I almost hit one bitter cold winter night. Minnie ran right in front of my car, and being a black cat, and with icy roads she was almost a goner. I pulled over, and set a trap out for her, had her in minutes and came home with her. Poor little thing was emaciated, and her ears started to crumble off at the tips from bad frostbite. :( She did get a wonderful home, and the sweet woman didn't care if Minnie was disfigured. Saying a prayer for you and the two babies that something will work out for all involved. ;) Keep us posted PLEASE!! Jan

Have you tried any shelters around Hudson or Rigaud? There is one just over the border into Ontario at Ste Eugene...( my house in Canada is just two miles from there.)

http://www.petfinder.org/shelters/ON40.html

It is called Jazzy Jo's.

Good luck and thanks for trying to help them!
