If he killed his own wife and child??
Im watching the news right now, and heard that Scott Peterson might not be getting the death penalty afterall. Supposedly, Peterson's defense lawyer begged the judge to "Spare his life." and "See the good in him."
IMO, There is no good in him. The news quoted him saying "Lacy was my weighing down my neck, and i wanted to give her a weight to hang around hers."
A quote from the new's website;http://cbs4.com/siteSearch/topstories_story_344142131.html
Defense lawyer Pat Harris countered in his closing remarks that prosecutors have misrepresented his client as arrogant.
"That doesn't match him, and you know it," Pat Harris said, his voice barely audible in the gallery despite being asked by the judge to speak up.
"I wish there was a phrase that I could give you that could turn this around and make you believe there is good, there is real, real good in this person," he continued. "But I don't have that phrase ... that's up to you to decide.
"So I'm going to ask you ... I'm going to beg you, begging you to go back there and please spare his life," he added.
Defense lawyer Mark Geragos, who gave his closing argument after the lunch break, told jurors he's been "tormented" by the Peterson case, but was surprised by the guilty verdicts.
"You can't find a more tortured, emotionally charged case than when something like this happens to, what I consider to be, two very fine families," he said.
  How exactly was he suprised with the guitly verdicts?
What's your opinion on this?

I'm adamantly against the death penalty. However, this is a "death qualified" jury, meaning they reassured the court that they would have no qualms applying the death penalty, should they feel it warranted. I do believe that his crime is among the most haneous. I don't believe there is anything worse than killing your wife and unborn child, a child weeks from being born, a wife you vowed to love and protect, who trusted you, then dumping their bodies in a watery grave:( I do belive that spending 40 plus years in prison would be his own personal hell.
I couldn't believe Gergagos' arugment! He was so arrogant and smug and self assured during the trial and in my opinion, his arrogance and ego helped condemn this man. He didn't believe the jury would convict him??? He should have assumed he would be found guilty in order to prepare the most effective defense. He should have been preparing the penalty trial from day one! In my opinion, Geragos' arrogance is a perfect fit for his client. My heart breaks for his poor family. They loved, coddled, protected him for his entire life. What he has done to them, in addition to Lacey and Conner, is unforgiveable.

I don't care either way. As long as he rots...rather it's in prison or hell. I hope that his fellow prisonmates make his life a living hell.
At least if he was in prison he'd be suffering all the time not just the days before the death penalty... I do think he should be killed, but they should scheduale it like a year away so he can dread it every min of everyday

I think they should schedule it yearly. And every year after he has his last meal, says his goodbyes, gets loaded up in the chair, gets his final rights or whatever....they can say, "Oh, something came up! We'll try this again later." Then let him stress about it for another year. :D

Oh thats crazy, what good can come in someone who KILLED their own wife and child and had a girlfriend? Either i'm blind or everybody in this world has just turnd their heads. Think of the justice for their families. If he gets porole, he might just go after someone else. Now, he might not, but no one will Know this.
I don't know, Crazy!! Thats the only word that I can use to describe this situation. This world is just something else.

One of the things that bothers me is his 'blandness'.
He shows no feelings.
It's like he's sitting in a class, or listening to a lecture....
No emotion, no sorrow, no remorse......nothing.
Although there have been 'pregnant wife killings' before and since then, maybe, by sending Scottie to the ether, some other guy who is trying to find a way to off his wife may rethink the act.
I do find that the media latched on to this case because of the
circumstances-beautiful couple, successful........and ignored similar crimes all across the country .
If that's the case, let Scott be the poster boy for the jerks who are looking for a way out of their marriages.

What consideration did he give Laci and Connor? What value did he place on his family? None!!! Does he deserve consideration for the value of his life? Not in the least.

Given the death penalty, he will be in jail for years while the automatic appeals await the justice system. If he gets life in prison, he isn't eligble for parole and gets to think about what he did.
Either way, the taxpayer pays.

It's been shown that life in prison is not a deterent nor is the death penalty. I would prefer extensive research on the sociopathic personality such as Scottie Peterson to further our ability to intercede when childhood symptoms arise. Unfortunately, from what we already understand, unless they are killing and torturing animals, there are no true "markers" for later behaviors. Scott may have tortured animals in his childhood days, MAY have had other sociopathic behaviors, but those are not provided for us. So huh? What is his problem? Merely a man in search of more? I can't help but think a lot is being kept from us. Death penalty? nah. Specimin? yes.
He will suffer enough in his being confined. more so than in death (which I feel VERY uncomfortable condoning, no matter what)- I know EEEEK!~

Kill him. Now. In the exact same way he killed the woman he vowed to love, honor, and protect and the child that he helped create.
I am a major advocate of the death penalty. Why?
In 1990, I was 12 years old - just 1 or 2 years younger than a lot of the kids who post here on Pet Talk. In the evening of December 18th, my neighbor Anne called me to see if I could come babysit for her. Her oldest son Tony (8 years old) was testing in karate to get the next belt up, but her younger son Jeffrey (4 years old) and baby Becca (6 months old) were getting antsy. I loved her, loved her kids, so I agreed to babysit. I was only there for about 90 minutes before Anne got back with Tony. She tried to give me $10 for my troubles but I wouldn't accept it.
The next morning, I awoke to my mom sobbing. In my twilight, I thought that perhaps her grandmother had passed away. A minute later, she came in and sat on my bed. I opened my eyes, expecting to hear "Me-mom died last night." Instead, I heard "Anne was murdered last night." I couldn't speak. I just immediately started crying. Why would anyone want to hurt Anne? I know everyone who loses someone says that they were so sweet and kind and all that, but Anne really *was* all of those things.
By the end of the day, her husband Ed was arrested and charged with his wife's murder. I was confused. They went to our church. Why would Ed do that? Why would he take away the mother of two young boys and a BABY girl? Ed did this because he was having an affair and he wanted his girlfriend, his kids and his house, but not Anne. He knew that if he divorced Anne, she'd get it all (and rightfully so, in this case). So he crept up the stairs a week before Christmas, shot her in the back of the head as she slept and left. He left her 8 year old and 4 year old sons to find their mother dead the next morning.
He was tried and convicted and got life without the possibility of parole for 24. This year marks the 14th anniversary which means he is eligible for parole in 11 years. Tony is now in college at U. of Maryland and has blocked out that portion of his life. Baby Becca turned 14 this past May. She loves hearing stories about her mother. Jeffrey committed suicide on July 31, 2003 at age 16. In his note, he said that he missed his mother and wanted to be with her.
I'm sick to my stomach reliving all this.
Ed didn't just take Anne's life. Jeffrey wouldn't be dead if Ed hadn't killed his mother. His selfishness and evil ways tore a family apart. He should pay with more than just spending his life in prison. He should pay with his life, in the exact way he took Anne's life. Tie him to a bed, face down. Let him lay there, not knowing when it'll happen. Hours... days... a week... whatever. Just let him wonder and wait. And then BAM! shoot him in the back of the head, mangling his face so much, he's unrecognizable - just like he did to Anne.
An eye for an eye.
Anyway... now you know why I am a staunch supporter of the death penalty. My views will never waiver. Those who pre-meditate and commit murder should pay with their own life.

Even with the death penalty, he will be added to a LONG list of death row inmates and will probably die of old age before he is executed. That is if the General Population of San Quentin don't get to him first.
He proved that he was a coward and had evil in his heart by doing what he did to Laci and Conner. He can be executed or rot in a cell...either way, it can't bring them back and what is left of his life is of little consequince to anyone other than his family. I would rather not ever hear his name again...he doesn't deserve the infamy.
Maybe they can pair up him and Mark Hacking in a cell together and they can compare notes. They are both slime.
I have to say that I am sick of hearing about Scott Peterson.
But I think his name is going to be in the news for a long time to come. If he ever is put to death, it will be years from now.......and those tax dollars will be spent on attorneys trying every legal maneuver possible.
I rather like the idea of him being in prison for life without any possibility of parole.
I think this is just the kind of hell that he deserves.......and after his life is over, God can take care of the rest.
I am not for the death penalty......but a little hell here and a lot of HELL there is just fine with me.

THAT'S why I am not gonna pay my taxes this year!!!
No money, no appeal!;)

Everything considered I think the jurors were kinda stupid for
judging him for his 'blandness'.
I don't condone WHAT he did.....
But there really WASN'T the evidence to 'connect' him to the murder....Oh, he DID do it-but they convicted him for not being remorseful........a troubling sign.....

He deserves everything he gets. Personally I think he should be put to death for what he did. He won't last long in jail either. Someone will kill him while he's in there. So either way he gets the death penalty. It's an awful enough thing to kill another human being but to kill an unborn child.....that's sick. He will rot in hell for what he did.
