A guy came in to my work yesterday with what he said was an "Alaskan Terrier." I have never in my life heard of this breed and the guy acted rather shocked by that. He said that the people he got him from paid $600 for him and they had a calendar of the breed and everything. The dog looked a bit like a West Highland Terrier (westie) but was smaller, had a softer coat, and his tail curled over his back. Sound familiar anyone?

I've never heard of it:confused: Did he get it from a breeder?

I *think* he got it from a friend or family member who got it from a breeder in New York.....not sure if that's correct.

Sounds like someone got suckered out of $600. They could have mixed a Westie and an Alaskan Klei Kai(sp?) and bibbidy bobbidy boo. People will mix anything together these days and call it a breed when it's really a mutt. Here is a website that has pretty much every breed there is listed, even mutts like the "poos" or "doodles". I didn't see Alaskan Terrier on there though.

maybe it's not yet recognised by the kennel club. until some times ago parson russell terrier was not recognised as a breed but just a type of a fox hunting terrier.
