At my vets there are 2 main Dr's that I see. Both think Raustyk may have lymphoma or kidney diease. Both reccomend x-rays & ultrasound, BUT in different orders.
One vet thinks we should do x-rays then an ultrasound.
The other thinks we should just go straight to ultrasound first.

Does anyone have any experience w/ this?

I thought an ultrasound would be best as it can detect anything, things that x-rays can not find.

I can afford both at this time BUT if this is something serious I will be limited for cash, I don't really want to pay for both when really just one is needed.

My ferret had both the xray and the ultrasound, ultimately it was the ultrasound that was much more useful to the vet. Good luck with your tests. A prayer for you for a good outcome.

I can't think of any advantage of doing Xrays first or at all.

If it's Lymphoma there could be other organs involved, and it should be able to pick up any tumors. Question: Are any of the dog's lymph nodes swollen? Other symptoms?

If it's kidney disease then again an ultrasound should give them an idea as to the shape and size of the kidneys as well if not better than an Xray.
