Frog Lovers Look

This frog lives behind a ceramic bird feeder we have just outside our front door. In the daytime, he almost looks white and he's huge! I was just wondering what type of frog he might be or even if he was a toad. Thought you would enjoy seeing his pic. He was above our door the other night. I had horrors of him falling on me while I was taking his pic. If he did that, the whole neighborhood would have heard me.

:eek:h my! That is really interesting and that is a great close-up picture. I am not very interested in frogs, but I always thought they were kinda cool and I definatly thought that that was awesome! Thanks so much for sharing it with us at pet talk! I thought it was cool!:p

Looks like some sort of treefrog, his slender legs indicate that he's used to climbing. :)

Hey, I think I've found what he is. Click here and then click on the Cuban tree frog. He's considered an invasive exotic. He came from Cuba and eats all of Florida's other frogs, spiders and lizards. That's not good.

I think he looks more like a Gray Treefrog. Try the test to see if he's the cuban. I personally wouldn't kill it if it is, just keep it as a pet in an aquarium or something, and buy a culture of worms or beetles or something. It looks very cute, too bad spaying frogs isn't an able thing. Then euthanizing wouldn't be a big alternative, but then again, it may be too much trouble. Anyway, best of luk.

I showed the picture to Justin, who is an expert at identifying florida reptiles and amphibians, and he said it was defiantly a Cuban Tree frog.

Even though I'm not crazy about frogs or bugs in general, I really don't want to kill him. I wrote to the school www.wec.ufl.edu on the link provided and asked them what I should do with the big guy. I don't want Florida's bugs and such disappearing, either so I may have to kill him. If I can get the guts to even touch him. I'll be sure to have rubber gloves on, though.

They are becoming more and more plentiful, and no longer uncommon in central Florida. You should probably just leave him be.

What a beautiful frog! I hope you don't end up killing him, it's all part of the food chain :)
