I have a 4 year old terrier mix that is very upset! this is the thrid time he has pooped on my bed. we had a baby 18 months ago and he has lost his place in the world. he had social problems befor as far as not being able to be left alone. my husband doesnt belive that dogs can be vandictive but i beg to differ... i know he is very smart! if i cant figure out how to stop this behavier we are going to have to find him another home. he is when we are around a very good dog and alway very willing to do anything to please us. i just dont know what to do? please help.

I would shut bedroom doors when you are not home. Try to spend time with the dog one-on-one, and let him know he is still important to you! Make a time every day to take him for a walk, to run through simple commands and reward with praise and treats - rebuild your relationship with him.

But do not allow him in the bedroom except when you are there to supervise. Also do not let him sleep on the bed with you.

I've heard that this works well usually:

When you're doing something with the baby, try to give the dog attention too. Also, does your dog sleep in a crate ever? I've heard that it really helps to put a blanket with the baby's scent on it, in the crate with the dog. I hope something works, I'd hate to see him have to go to a new home.

I was gonna suggest keeping bedroom doors closed and not to let him sleep with you if it is happening during the night..they are smart and they do "pay back" if they are feeling left out..

Thank you all for all your help I also spoke with an obedience trainer and she all suggested pretty close to all the suggestions I received from this panel.
