OK, first off let me tell you about my new ratty. I named him Nemesis, but I wanted to change that. So any and all suggestions will be considered! So now for the story.
Our friend has a snake. Well he brought this ratty over and was going to feed him to his snake but I stepped in and told him he couldn't and kind of kidnapped him. He was pissed off at me but it was his fault for bringing a baby rat over here. Like I am really going to let that thing sit in the box in his own urine and feces for 3 hours. So I took him out of the box and fell in love. I couldn't let him go to a snake. Everyone was mad at me but oh well. That's their problem. So I introduce to you my new little boy...

He is SUCH a sweety! Right now he is living in our small bathroom. I am trying to potty train him so he can be a free range ratty, like most of my other rats were. We will be getting him a cage soon though, but there is no rush. We'll also be getting him a friend, since ratties crave companionship.
He's just such a doll though! He loves to give kisses and bruxes for me constantly. :D

Now for the other three. Well as most people here know we have a rattlesnake. For some stupid reason my roomate got the bright idea of trying to feed the snake two goldfish. Well I knew he wouldn't eat them and the more I saw them flopping around out of water I couldn't take it. So I reached into the cage and took them both out and immediately put them in some water. Unfortunately the only thing we had then was a rinsed out liqour bottle. But hey, I figured that was better than nothing and sure as heck better than drowning from lack of water etc etc etc. Unfortunately we lost the little white guy but my orange one, who I named Cleo is doing very well. I felt bad for my little fishy being alone so I went to the petshop and bought him a friend, who I named Creamsickle. :)
Here are pics I took with the original two. I didn't get a clear shot of Cleo though. The white one is the one who passed away. It wasn't healthy to begin with when it came here, and after flopping around in the snake tank ...well it wasn't going to be a good outcome. I am just glad he had a few seconds of an OK life. I told him I loved him before he passed away. :(

I'll try to get some good pics of Cleo and her new friend later on today once I clean their tank out. :)

Now for my new hammy! :D As some of you might know I recently lost my little Hammy boy. :( Well, while Eli was visiting family he stopped at a local petshop and picked this little girl out for me! I was so happy! :D

CongRATS on the new additions. Very very cute.
I think the hammy looks like a pipsqueak, just he is so tiny & cute.
I like Nemesis for the rakins, just look at his snout, he lust looks like a Nemesis. Sorry I don't have any other name options for him.
Do you let your rats run free through your entire house or just part of it?
I've always wanted to do that & although my house is ferret proff I have always benn nervous about the rats, mainly under the fridge, stove, washer/dryer etc.. as the space is almost too small to really block, but big enough for rats to squeeze through.
So they just have their bedroom for freee roam space for now.

That's how I got my mice. Justin usually buys frozen, but he ran out and forgot to order more. He asked me to get some from the pet store, but they only have live. I went and got them like he'd asked, but when he got home I had them set up in a tank with houses and bedding and stuff. I've had them for quite a while now.
They are all so cute :)

Congrats! That has to be one of the cutest rats I have ever seen! And I'm not one to normally say that about rats. ;) But a lot of the PTers have really cute ones!
I'm glad you saved the fish! I'm sorry about the one that died.
I don't have any name ideas for your hamster, but she sure is cute!

Congrats, all the newbies are adorable. I'm sure you'll do great with the rattie and hammie, but the goldfish concern me. Just in case you don't know much 'bout goldies, they get very big, poop alot, live along time, are pigs(food wise), need aerated water for oxygen, clean water constantly, they are coldwater fish, and the kind you have look like common goldies. If you plan on keeping them, I'd suggest getting at least a 10g and upgrading later, a rule of thumb with goldies is 10g of water for each fish. Remember to cycle the aquarium and do not buy a plecostomus(suckerfish) unless you are commited and know of the consequences. I did this, know I'm stuck with a cute lil pooping maching.lol. If you already knew this, then just ignore me. But, if you want more help, feel free to pm me. Best of luck and I intend not to offend or discourage, just inform.

Ack, I am a moron. I didn't realize I forgot to mention I moved the fish into a tank LOL. I've had plenty of goldfish in my day, so I know how to care for them. That was just the only thing we had at the time, and either they went into the bottle or died flopping round in sand, so I chose the bottle. ;)
They were moved about an hour after that into an aquarium. Speaking of fishies today is cleaning day! But yes, the only reason the white fish died is because one, when my roomate came home he dropped them in the bag and spilled water all over the living room floor. I can imagine what an impact that was! Then they were out of water flopping around in the sand for about ten minutes before I couldn't take it anymore and put them back into some water. The white one was almost dead when he was bought, so nothing we could do there, but I figured I would try to save the orange one and at least give the white one a few seconds of an OK life before he passed.
I've thought of getting a Pleco but all the ones around here are always ill and I don't want to risk the health of my two goldies right now. If I can find a good supplier in town I may consider it. But yes, they are now in a nice sized tank with some beautiful plants. My last goldfish passed away about a year ago. I had him for what seems like forever! He was just HUGE, and such a sweetie. He would come to the top of the tank and nibble on my fingers. His name was "fish"......pretty original eh?
As for the hamster and ratty, they are both doing great! Nemesis is catching on quickly to potty training and is slowly learning how great it is to get free roam time around the bedroom. He's a super little fellow who loves to give kisses. I've owned rats for a long time, and have know a ton about them. You can ask anyone here. ;)
