View Full Version : Calling all angels

Hi again friends,
I'm writing this w/such a heavy heart. As some of you already know, I have my hands full w/several outdoor cats that I'm desperately trying to find homes for. I can't call them feral because they're so tame; they're simply outdoor cats.

One of the litters consists of 3 six month old cats, one black male and 2 tiger striped/mottled females. All 3 have been fixed. The male, Chessie, has found a good home w/my cat sitter and, even though I cried because I miss him, I know he's in a really good home w/a loving 'mom'. His sisters, however, haven't been so fortunate. In the eyes of the world, they're just plain ol' tabbies. But their personalities are so sweet; they're shy but loving once they get to know you. Their names are Fraidy Cat and Star Kitty. They are still living in my garage because I haven't had the heart to turn them out again since their spaying because the other outdoor cats pick on them, won't allow them to eat or sleep in the boxes that I've provided. I've had to stand there and guard them while they eat in the past. They're now so loving and they're finally relaxing and I think that to turn them out again would be cruel. But it's also cruel, in my opinion, to doom them to live their lives in a garage. I can tell that they're getting bored, even if they are thankful to have a warm bed and good food. After Chessie went to his new home, they both sat by the garage door and cried. It was heartbreaking, especially to see them wander around the garage looking for him. They seem to have adjusted now and I want so much for them to have some of the happiness that their brother does.

Is there anyone out there who can possibly open their heart and home to one or both of these babies? I have 7 indoor special needs cats and to add 2 more would be pushing the envelope. I don't have any pictures of them; my camera died; but I think I might buy a disposable camera. I'll admit to being a knucklehead when it comes to posting pictures on this site. But if you're interested, OR IF YOU KNOW ANYONE WHO MIGHT BE, please email me. I can scan the pictures and send them in an email. THAT I know how to do. :-)

Any help that you can offer, whether in the form of a new home or passing the word, will be so greatly appreciated both by me and the furkids. I'm about to move house soon and I really want to make sure that these babies are taken care of.

Blessings,
M

Aren't there any 'no-kill' shelters in your area? Maybe Sirrahbed knows of some in Ohio .... she lives there as well. Good luck finding these little ones homes, and thanks for all you do for kitties!;)

Yes, actually there are 'no kill' shelters here in OH. I have emailed one right here in my hometown and calls have been put in to the operator of the facility but so far I've not received a response. The other one that I was going to call has closed down. :-( I'm trying very hard not to get discouraged. But it's cold here in OH now and it's only going to get colder. I just can't move house w/these babies outdoors unless they're supervised by me. If I have to, I'll take them w/me but I don't know how my new neighbors will respond. I have a lot of privacy where I am right now and no one knows about all the kitties that I feed and house every day. (21 but who's counting? LOL) Getting them all spayed/neutered is and has been quite expensive but we do what we gotta, right?

M

Medusa, please keep calling the shelter.

Bless you for all that you do for these precious kitties. You are an "ANGEL"

Also, in my opinion, and I know that you didn't say this, but there are no such things as "Just plain ol' tabbies" They are my favorite breed of cat as you can tell from my siggy.:)
They are just as beautiful as any other cat.:D

I hope and pray that you are able to find a forever home for Fraidy Cat and Star Kitty.

I absolutely agree w/you that there is no such thing as a 'plain ol' tabby', which is why I added the "in the eyes of the world". It seems that people like kittens and puppies, not cats and dogs. Not all people, of course, but you know what I mean. Chessie is black and looks like a little panther, so I knew he wouldn't be difficult to place. These precious girls, Fraidy and Star, are rather plain looking and even my friends would say "Aaaaw, they're cute but look at HIM!" The 7 kittens from the other litter are all different w/unusual markings, no two look alike. But Fraidy and Star Kitty almost look like twins, except that Star Kitty has a marking in between her eyes that, when she was a kitten, looked like a star, hence her name. Now that she's grown older, though, it resembles a diamond. Diamond Girl would be a good name for her but she answers to Star Kitty. They both just want love and I just have to find a home for these babies. I won't stop trying. You can count on that.

Hi Medusa,
There are no-kill shelters in Ohio but I would not call - I would GO there or use e-mail. Many have such limited hours and calling is next to impossible. We used one in Middletown called P.A.W.S. - it is in the first link below, and they have been very good about answering e-mails. Calling just does not do any good - either they are closed or just too busy and understaffed to answer.
Hope you have some success!
Hugs,
Debbie

I cannot help, as I'm bit far away and already have way too many cats as it is. (Not in my opinion, but you know how it is... ;) )

I wish you lots of luck and will pray for your efforts.

:) Take care

Thanx so much. I know prayer works and I'm not giving up, esp. when I know that I have so many friends praying for us.

Hi again Medusa,
The above is the information for Fayette County Humane Shelter, where we got two of our cats, Emily and Eliot. I do not know if it is no-kill but we were impressed with them and have supported them a bit financially. I am not sure where you are in Ohio but this is near Dayton and Cincinnati.

Oh and one more I found..

I'm in Canal Fulton, hours away from either of those cities. But thanx so much for all your help. I appreciate it a lot.

Even though Dayton and Cinncinatti are hours away, shelters do transports to save lives- it is more than worth the phone call to find out. Do go to to petfinder.com and type in your zip code for total list of private rescuers and also Yahoo groups for "Rescue Groups" there are many rescue groups in your area I am sure!
