(This actually happened a few days ago but I was too busy sorting it out to post about it!)
This is a bag of dog treats:

This is what the treats normally look like:

This is what they looked like in the new bag my sister bought:

Yep, that's mold
As you can imagine, I was (and still am) furious. Bare in mind this was a brand new bag and according to the sell by date (which I checked as soon as I noticed) should have been perfectly fresh. I couldn't believe it! The worst thing was my sister had already opened the bag and given them a treat each. :( Don't ask me how she didn't notice, I don't know. She felt really bad afterwards - luckily the treats at the very top of the bag seemed to be ok, and the dogs haven't gotten sick from them, thank goD.
Anyway, as soon as I found out I rang the store. (poor woman on the other end of the phone, i feel sorry for her having to try and calm me down!) The first thing she asked me was if it was a 3kg bag (it was) and she said she'd had about 8 other people ring up with the same complaint! It turns out the store had already contacted the maufacturing company who had admitted to sending a bad batch.
I assume they're refunding the store, because they've given us a free replacement bag. No problems with this one I'm glad to say, although I don't think I'll be buying this brand of treats again, I'll be too paranoid everytime I open the bag.
I'm still angry, but I'm just glad I noticed when I did, and that the dogs didn't get sick from them. I guess there's no real moral to this story, except that even checking the sell by date and getting the so say 'freshest' bag doesn't garuntee you anything - I know I'll be looking a lot more carefully next time I buy treats!
On a lighter note, this is our new kitchen floor, modelled by Squid! I don't know how many of you remember the disgusting stinky carpet, but this is definitely a big improvement :D
