Does anyone have a '79' theme for the bar today??

I hate when this happens!!!!!

I try and try and there is no corresponding story for the week number!!

I do have the DOTD!

Swiss Lemonade

1 oz. Absolut Citron, Sour mix, Splash each: Cranberry Juice & 7-up

Shake Citron & Sour mix with ice, Pour into a Highball glass, Add splash of Cranberry juice & 7-up

Hi Mario!!!!

No more mini bottles in SC, Richard! The measure passed, as expected. :) I don't have any ideas, but of course, some of us would think that the DOTD should be Champagne, but I know we're in the minority!

Maybe the theme should be, "Thank Goodness it is over"! :D

How about Pepto Bismol as my stomach is churning and I feel like throwing up!

Is a person who voted for BUSH still welcome here or should I crawl back into the wood work and stay there?

I would love a glass of champagne, though certainly not to celebrate. Let's see what Mario can do to cheer us up today. Maybe he would like to go with me and Duke on my road trip to Ohio? Would he handle being in the back seat? Duke rides shotgun.

How about another one of my concoctions:

Strawberry Daquri mix
Vodka (The citrus kind)
Dry Vermouth
Canadian Mist
Brandy
Ice

Throw unspecified ammounts in blender and blend
Serve frozen
Pass out :D

I'm STILL trying to recover from my holoween party lol

Its ok to be here no matter who you voted for. The election is over, so lets be friends again!

How about theme, "Land of Confusion." or have you used that before :p. Not that it wouldn't be apt to use more than once.

A simple glass of good Chardonnay would be nice..

I just looked at the thread title and I want to say that I didn't mean that as any political statement....

As a matter of fact if you had campaigned within 100 feet of the front door or Thursdays you would have been made to come in and fed shots of Jack Daniels.....Until you cried OR told your most embarrassing life story!!!!

Yes, I'm glad it's over.

Remember,
No gloating. No teasing and No throwing up.......Pink vomit isn't fun;)

SOOOOOO....

Logan,
BIG BOTTLE, Champagne!!

Done!

Red,

Pepto Shooter, DONE!

MOFF,

Like the lady in Poltergeist said....."ALL WELCOME HERE".

DDM,

Champagne? DONE!!!!

I don't know how Mario does in a moving vehicle.......

Would Duke share the co-pilot seat?
:)

K9,

There’s too many men
Too many people
Making too many problems
And not much love to go round
Can’t you see
This is a land of confusion.

This is the world we live in
And these are the hands we’re given
Use them and let’s start trying
To make it a place worth living in.

I would like a DOTD, and Mario wants a beer as usual. Though I would love to try some of that Champagne later. I have never drank it before, might as well taste it now.

Think I've had all the coffee I want for the day!

I'm just not sure how Mario would act in a car, he would probabley want to sit on your shoulder and do your hair for you!

I think that Swiss Lemonade sounds wonderful! Now if I was just on a Swiss Alp while I was sipping it, life would be good. :D

MOFF, one of the unwritten rules of this bar is that we are all friends here. Leave the politics, religion and attitudes at the door. Otherwise we'll have to get security on you and we haven't seen them since they went looking in the L & F for something quite awhile back. ;)

Why thank you Mario. Yes, that cherry will go quite well on top of my drink. What a sweetie you are. :D Oh wait, wait! No, I don't want it in my hair, I thought you meant it for my drink. Eeewww...now my hair is all sticky again. What is with me, this bar and sticky hair?

Well, I got Genesis stuck in my head now. Of course when you put lyrics there, I heard the song in my head, then I had to put on Genesis and listen to it. :p.

Here's another of my favorites..

Just as I thought it was going alright
I find out I'm wrong, when I thought I was right
It's always the same, it's just a shame, that's all
I could say day, you'd say night
Tell me it's black when I know that it's white
It's always the same, it's just a shame, that's all

I could leave but I won't go
Though my heart might tell me so
I can't feel a thing from my head down to my toes
So why does it always seem to be
Me looking at you, you looking at me
It's always the same, it's just a shame, that's all
---

Look at that.. the wine glass is empty already ;)

It's Doogie(moosmom's) I'm so happy I could ease her mind and take one of her kitties. I'm hoping Duke will adjust ok. I'm getting so excited! I leave this Saturday. I would love my hair done! Can Mario give me tiny braids and some beads?

DDM- I have had the tiny braids and beads....I hope your hair is strong! If not - when you take them out you will end up with much shorter hair! I had a friend who that happened to....my hair was OK - just really BIG!

go here (http://usa.myswitzerland.com/en/products/USP/panos/pano_intro.cfm) to see Switzerland from the Alps today. It's a be-uti-ful day there. Perfect for alp top viewing! Once you're at the site and can see the view, click on Schilthorn or San Salvatore to the right to see more views.

Here Connie, let me get you all tucked in here by the fire where it's nice and toasty. I'll even see if I can find some of that wonderful applewood. However, I'm going to give you a nice hot chocolate to warm your bones instead of a cold coke, k?

There you go now, I'll send some of the resident kitties over as little heaters for you. You know how they like to snooze by the fire on such blustery yucky days.

How about calling the DOTD THE HAPPY CANADIAN?

Or is that what we call Slick?

Boy is it ever refreshing to come in here..........no one is mentioning the "B" word, or the "K" word, or the "D's" or the "R's.

I really don't think I could take it if we had presidential elections more often!

Giinniiiii<whining> why won't you yodel with me? Huh? Yodeling is fun, especially in the Alps. :D

And of course I have a story about yodeling. One time when I was probably like 10 or 12 years old or so, I was just goofing around and sang out "little old lad-y who" in a yodeling tone of voice. My mom turned to me and said "Don't call me and old lady!" in a scolding tone of voice. I just cracked up and she couldn't figure out what was so funny. ;) :D :p :D

I'll have a Spanish Coffee to start the day too.

Hey, has anybody checked on MOFF? I tucked her in on the couch by the fire yesterday and haven't heard from her since! It's kind of a cold damp icky day here today so she might not be feeling that great yet....better go stoke up the fire for her.

Good morning everyone. I have the week off which is why I haven't been around much. But it is Thursday so I wanted to stop by.

I'd like a nekkid beer and a toast to the fact that at least there is no recount this year. Also, I'm so very glad that the "get out the vote" phone calls have stopped.

In keeping with the surreal when it comes to voting - here in the vote by mail state my husband and I got out our ballots on Monday and voted while old time Star Trek was on the Sci-Fi channel.

Turns out we cancelled each other out for our presidental votes - just like we did in 2000;)

I'M BAAAAAAACK!

All the TLC from you all plus an afternoon under the electirc blanket and cats, helped a lot. I even went to bed at 8 last night and the cats had mercy on me and let me sleep until 5 am!

I celebrated by going to the grocery store this morning and getting locked in when the power went off. It finally came back on (well, DUH! HERE I AM).

I'm fixing home made veggie soup for lunch. Any takers?

MOFF - there isn't anything like a pile of kitties and an electric blanket. Glad you got out of the grocery store alright.

SOS or SOpastry shell.......same thing to me!

My veggie soup is just a throw in what you have, type of recipe.
I just use a can or two of chicken broth, a bag of frozen mixed veggies (or several cans of mixed veggies - not drained), a can or two of tomato sauce, any other veggies like potatoes and onions that you want to toss in. Add water to cover the veggies and cook until veggies are tender. I toss in 3 or 4 slices of cheese and let it melt before serving.

Today's soup has baby carrots, a bag of frozen mixed veggies, one can chicken broth, a can of potatoes - not drained, and a can of tomato sauce and a can of water. Then 3 slices of American cheese tossed in after that cooked. It's really easy and you can make it as thick or soupy as you want!

It's a great way to use any left over veggies or ones who are aging fast!
:D

I do a similar thing but simply call it "refrigerator soup". It's usually made the day before a big grocery store trip in order to make room for new food  Add a touch of this and a splash of that and don't even TRY to write down a recipe ;)

I do similar to MOFF except I make a white sauce and add it to thicken the soup and make it creamy. I do have a recipe at home...somewhere....I think....I'll look tonight when I get home and post it if/when I find it. My mom - who gave me the recipe - uses fresh veggies like cauliflower & broccoli but I just use the frozen. So much simpler and just as good.

Couldn't find any soup for lunch so I had a salad. Blech - salads are no good on cold damp days.

I think I'll take a nice steamy cup of hot tea to warm my innards after that. ;)

Hi MOFF,

I'll take a bowl.....yummy!!!

K9...

Cafe and Bailey's!!!
Slick makes great homemade Bailey's!!

------------------------------------------------------------

I love this soup.

It's fast and easy.....You just have to chop some veggies.

1 bag of split peas.
Three stalks of celery
Two potatoes.
Three carrots
1 large onion.
1 cup Ham or 1/2 cup chopped bacon

Prepare the peas
Overnight soaking or place the peas in water, heat to boil and turn the pot off.

Chop all the veggies. Add to the peas.

Add the ham or bacon and cook for about 1.5 hours.

Grab some bread and eat.

You can puree or strain the soup before you eat.

Richard, that sounds similar to my Navy bean soup but I use chunks of sausage instead of ham. I make split pea soup too, great way to use up leftover ham and I always have some dried beans or peas in the cupboard. Wow, now I'm ready to go home and start some soup for dinner with some sourdough bread!! Enough of the food already, let's have another round... Is everybody having a rainy, dank day? I heard it's even raining in parts of California.

All this food talk is making me hungry! Think I'll go have some soup too! It is kind of cold out today.

Sigh, don't you hate it when a song comes on the radio that reminds you of a person you would rather forget?

Baileys, with a hint of coffee please...and maybe something to take the spaz out of my cat lol!!

DJ,
Bailey's splash of coffee!
Let me find some Spaz remover!!

The most satifying sound to a cook is the sound of a spoon scraping up the last drops of soup they made.

LOLOLOL,

When Slick came down for the BBQ we went to have a drink at her hotel.......

They run a public service commercial on the radio and the premise is a game show where you have to use your best pickup line.....

ready??

You must be a parking ticket because you have FINE written all over you!!!!

That was the start of some Maniacal Laughter. Soon after the bartender came over and told us the bar was closed...

"I close bar...." I embellish the story by quoting his line this way,

"You go, I close bar....." Like to Soup Nazi, but with liquor!!

It was Gini and Slick's fault.....I was behaving.

Heinz....

Congratulations, You application has been approved!!!!

Soup of the evening, beautiful Soup!
Beau-ootiful Soo-oop!
Beau-ootiful Soo-oop!
Beautiful Soup! Who cares for fish,
Game, or any other dish?
Who would not give all else for two p
ennyworth only of beautiful Soup?
Beau-ootiful Soo-oop!
Beau-ootiful Soo-oop!
Soo-oop of the e-e-evening,
Beau-ootifu Soo-oop!

Guess I'll have one of those Swiss Lemonades to start the day off. Then I can dream about Switzerland all day again today.
