A pregnent Stray cat in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina was taken in by a friend of my sisters name Cami. A week after Cami had the cat she found out it was pregnent and put it back outside. She is now going to take it to the local Kill Shelter that is over run with animals. The place smells or Urine and Feces. It's horrible and no place for a mother and her unborn kittens to go (or any animal for that matter). Not only is the shelter not well cared for, neither are the animals. Many animals have matted fur and are caked in mudd or feces. Some of there toenails are 2 to 3 inches long. The cat boxes are unclean and the cats look sick. It brakes my heart to think that this sweet cat, who loves human attention, could wind up in a place like this.

My father and I will be travling to Myrtle Beach this weekend and are willing to bring the cat back with us. The thing is that we still have our foster bunnies and my dad considers our reseacue to be full. This means we can not accept the cat into our home at this time.

I know there is a no-kill cat shelter called LAPS near here and I heard its a wonderful place for kitty's to go. But I know that many people on here fo reseacue work and I was hopeing we could some how help this kitty. I would love to see her go into a home enviroment before going to a shelter and I know that if I didn't explore the options before taking this poor cat to LAPS that I would feel guilty. I also know that many people on PT do resecue work, and I think some even live near me. I know that most of them work with a shelter of some kind, but I think that there are some who work independintly. Can anyone accept this cat, or someone's shelter accept this cat?

Another alternitive I'm looking in to is to find a no-kill cat shelter within a half hour of Myrtle Beach South Caorlina. I'm going to do some work and see if I can find anything near there.

If anyone can offer any help I would greatly apreciate it.

Ashley

No kill shelters... I dont really have any advice either. I do know in Raeford North Carolina their is a no kill shelter called The Haven, No kill animal shelter, But that is about 3 hours from where you will be. So probably no good either. In North Carolina we have VERY few no kill shelters, only one in Fayetteville where I live, and VERY hard to get any animal in. I am sorry I have no advice for you, other than I hope and Pray that you dont have to take the poor kitty to a shelter who from the sounds of it clearly can not properly take care of its animals, and would probably put them all down anyways:( It saddens me to even think of it:( But maybe sometime good will come of it, just keep up trying. I will keep looking on the net too. GOOD LUCK!!!

Sacred Vision Animal Sanctuary (SVAS)

I believe this shelter is located near Mytle Beach. They work with South Carolina Greyhound Adoption Program(SC GAP) adopting out other doggies and kitties too. They are advertised as a no-kill shelter on petfinder.
