Mokey is naugty!

Yesterday Mokey discovered that if she tries hard enough she can worm her way out of the cage! We've had this new cage for about two months now (I think) and have never had this problem before. Yesterday I went outside for a second, then when I came back in Mokey was on top of her cage saying hello to me! So I put her back in, then went to the restroom. When I got back there she was again! So this time I sat down and watched her get out of the cage. She was getting out through the bars at the top of the cage. So I covered it and she hasn't gotten out since, but I think I'm going to need to figure out a way to cover all the bars so she doesn't figure out she can also escape from the sides and not just the top.

Mokey, you are NAWTEE!!!!!! :p You remind me of some naughty hamsters from my past (Rusty, Evelyn and Phoebe). Only thing different is that they got way past the top of the cage before we found them!!!!! LOL!!!!

I remember my past hamsters
were great excape artists.
Must be a hamster trait. :)

I had one hamster get herself behind the kitchen cabinet and
my mom had to cut a whole in it to reach the hamster.
Another time my male hamster got into the lining
of the bottom of the couch.
I cut up the lining to get him out.
I am so glad I had an understanding mom. :)

NAWTY! My little stinkers did that ALL the time when they were younger! One time Punkin got out, went into my closet, crawled up the clothes and I found her sitting on a hanger! Scared me so bad, I thought the cats got her because I could not find her- it took me HOURS to find her!

They eventually learned that they had to stay in the cage unless mommy took them out on purpose. :p

Oh my, your Mokey is naughty! Maybe you should buy a new cage that she can't get out of, just to make sure that she doesn't ever run away for some reason! ;)

Well rat cages are pretty expensive especially since we need one large enough for 3 rats. It would be much cheaper to just cover all the bars with some mesh.

Naughty Mokey! My RB mouse could climb through the bars of her cage too. They are GREAT escape artists and can get through some pretty small gaps huh? We ended up having to buy her a new cage :rolleyes: Hopefully Mokey won't figure out that she can get through the sides of the cage - she's a clever girl though! :p
