There has been so many deaths this year. I can't believe it. My great grandfather passed away on Saturday night. He would have been 97 this November. He's the grandfather that I've visited in Southern California a few times this year. Anyways, my heart hurts because I will miss him, but I am also happy for him. He's been telling me for years that he was ready. He basically would tell me that he's lived a wonderful long life and that he's experienced all that he ever dreamed of, so he was ready to go. He didn't like waking up so achy everyday. Up until the last few months, he was still physically active. He never missed a day of working out...even sit ups! He was mentally there 100% up until the very end. He had to quit driving a few months ago and that really bothered him. My grandfather did not believe that there was a God until this past week. He started praying with my grandmother (his daughter) over the past few days and accepted the Lord right before he passed. This bring us great peace. I'll be leaving for Southern California soon, but I don't know when. My grandmother is supposed to call me today and let me know when she needs me to come down.

Goodness Tonya - what a lucky girl you've been. To only have lost your Great Grandfather now. I only had my maternal Grandfather until I was 7 years old. I'm just so pleased for you to have known this wonderful, strong man - for so many years.
I send you {{{Hugs}}}across the miles sweetheart - you're heart will hurt for such a long time - he sounded as though he'd worked it all out and was actually ready to go - bless him.
He'll be watching over a very precious Great grand-daughter with so much love.
A new star to shine in the heavens tonight - R.I.P. Tonya's dear Great Grand Father xxx

I'm sorry Tonya. Sounds like he had a very full life and how wonderful that he had his mind clear and sharp until the end. I wish my father was so lucky and he's just 82 now.
Your family is in my thoughts and prayers.

First of all,Tonya, My heartfelt condolences on the passing of your great grandfather. He had lived a long and good life. He reminds me a lot of my father who I lost in 2000. He, too lived a long life, he passed away at the age of 96. At the age of 89, he still played seven holes of golf, carrying his own golf clubs! He also drove a car up to the age of 93! Tonya, I know that your great grandfather and my father are looking down at us and smiling!!

Big, jealous hugs to you. Old people are the best, aren't they? Might his name suggest a name for the boy-to-be? It is so good that your great-grandfather was a great-grandfather, and that you will always honor him by sharing his memory with your sons, and with all of us.
