Yesterday someone brought 3 nursing kittens whose mom was hit and killed by a car. :( :( They are approximately 3 to 4 weeks old, and nice and pudgy ... although they do have goopy eyes. I am feeding them KMR and putting medicine in their eyes. They already look better, and they are little piggies with the syringe! :D The woman said that one of them had some sort of worm under the skin on its neck, and her husband pulled it out!!!? Does anyone know what kind of worm this would be? Poor baby has a hole and some draining pus, not too bad, as they were keeping it clean with peroxide and neosporin. I drained more of the infection out myself last night, and it is not as swollen today. Baby is eating good though, so I don't feel too overly concerned at the moment. I have a vet appointment tomorrow anyway, so will see what she says. ;)

Also, another family brought me a little orange guy. Well, I haven't confirmed that it is a boy, he came in late last night, and I just got him/her set up in a cage and fed. Plan to bathe and check more "closely" today! :D

Maybe a cuterebra? Reese had one when we found her. The Vet surgically removed it. Here's a link to a bit of info, and you can GOOGLE it for more.

I might have called it a Warble. It may or may not be the same thing, but it is a larve that buries under the skin. PLEASE CHECK FOR MORE!!!

best of luck with the babies.

Could have been a maggot as well. Poor babies. But in good hands now. At least with older babies they don't need that every 4 hour feeding schedule. ;)

Bless you Kim, you always have an open door.

Poor little babies and how sad about their mom. Please let us know how it goes at the vet tomorrow.

Have you figured out what the orangie's sex is yet?

I was checking your Happy Tails list on Petfinder and saw you've had more adoptions - YAY and Congrats!!!
