I was filling out information for a page for Persephone on catster.com and when the question came up about what breed she is I didn't know what to put. I'm pretty sure Calico isn't a breed, just a certain coloring, right? She is my first cat, so I'm not too sure about different breeds. If anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated. :) There's a few pics of her in my sig and also this one:

I almost forgot...there's some other pics here (http://petoftheday.com/talk/showthread.php?s=&threadid=60233)

I would say she's a domestic shorthair. And I would like to add she is one of the most beautiful domestic shorthairs I've ever seen :) Yes, calico is just a coloring, just like a tabby (even though lots of people think tabby is a breed).

Tabby and Calico and patche and pointed cat coats are just that a pattern. It is not the name of any breed of cat. It describes the pattern of the coat. The same goes for a Van, and solids.
Breeds are such as persians, Scottish Folds American Curl Pixie Bobs and Ragdolls and many more.

WhiteCat I am glad you are an expert at the very young age of 13. But if you go to a book store and get a book on pedigree cats you will not find Tabby, Calico ect. But you will find the different breeds there are. There is alot of information about the different breeds and what make a cat a pedigree or purebred cat. It will tell you about the different cat registries and the papers needed to have a pedigree or purebred cat. From the sounds of it you really love cats and the more you read and research the more you will understand the make up of a cat and the different behavior and color patterns. I breed Maine Coons and I am still learning about them. I love the passion in your replies. Keep studing and you will go far.
