I'm hypothyroid and have known since before I got pregnant that I would need to have my labs drawn every two or three weeks during early pregnancy. I was told by the clinic in the states that when I got back here I would be monitored by a high risk baby doctor- when I got back here all they would say to me was wait til you're 12 weeks, then we can ask the doctors to see you. By 12 weeks my thyroid levels could change Drastically! enough even to affect my baby's future IQ and overall health...
So, I finally worked up the nerve to call the clinic out and ask why I wasn't being taken better care of. I asked why I wasn't on the high risk list and why I wasn't having my levels monitored. The girl seemed genuinely concerned and put in a telephone consult for me with one of the docs. I should be getting a call back within 72 hours:) I'm so proud of myself because I like to avoid conflict, not create it, but this scenerio just didn't seem like it could be ignored.
Go Me!! *cheers*

well, the doctor called me back and was very nice and polite.:) I found her very calm and reassuring, she said that she noticed that my labs were only drawn a few weeks ago and so will not need to be drawn for another 2 weeks. She said that she will put a note in my chart to ensure that my labs are ordered for my next appointment. She also told me that the other clinic most likely told me that I would need to be seen by a high risk baby doc because they had a full staff of them and not even high risk women to keep them entertained:rolleyes: :D She assured me that the main thing is to keep an eye on my labs which were fine at my 6th week of pregnancy. I feel better and hope that she will be one of my main doctors. SO that's my uppydate in case anyone bothers to check back:D

I'm glad you did what you did, Missy. It never pays to mess around with your health or the health of your baby!!!! So glad the doctor reassured you. :)

Good for you! I am glad that they will be monitoring your blood.
I've always been one to avoid conflicts too. Motherhood seems to put that extra courage in me though. No one messes with me or my baby!

Give yourself a pat on the back! It is so hard to stand up and let people know that you don't think the right thing is being done -either for you, your child or your pet. It takes a lot of courage to speak out. Congratulations! And take care of yourself and that baby!!!
