View Full Version : blood on the rawhide????
the past few times Beanie has chewed on his rawhides i've seen blood on it. should i be concerned about this? should i take the rawhide away? his teeth are clean and in good shape. i even brush his teeth 2-3 times a week.

it could be a rough spot is grazing his gums? Do they bleed when you brush them? maybe have a look at them to be sure they are healthy and all....
If he still chews,, it cant be that bad otherwise youd think he would stop?

MY RB beagles gums used to bleed when she ate bones, but its not a big deal. She was older so we had to keep her teeth in good health,so they didnt Rot:( Is he older?? My beagle was around 10-11 years old when he gums started bleeding when she ate bones,i dont think its nothing to worry about, unless its GUSHING out blood:eek: ,then that wouldnt be very good
sammy101, he is about 7 yrs old. i looked at his gums. they look fine. i guess he would stop if it was hurting him. i was just worried about him.
thanks:D

Roxy leaves blood on her rawhide too. I do not worry about it because she doesn't seem to be in pain. I think she's just very passionate about chewing.

I think a tiny bit of blood on a rawhide or Nylabone is similar to a tiny bit of blood on our dental floss--dentists would prefer none, but they have high standards!

I wouldn't be to worried about it, unless it gets worse.
