Oh these sites make me sad. So many dogs, so few homes. This one caught my eye. It says she is a beagle mix, but at 23 lbs. and 5 months old and with her coloring I think she definitely has some Greater Swiss Mountain Dog in her. She is going to be a big and beautiful girl. **sigh**
http://animalshelter.co.franklin.oh.us/adoption/adoptSee for yourself. This is my granddog, Dale, a Greater Swiss Mountain Dog. :)

Oh Dale ~ Wouldn't you like a little sister especially since you are getting neutered on the 11th and the hormones will be saying Bye! Bye!. :p

Hmmmmm....I wonder what site that is Amy??? hhehehehe

Ok guys....you all know I can't have any more, which is why I don't look at kill shelters, but, if you can take one....do it!!!

I only look at LaGrange, IN because I do the website on Petfinder, but, Becky refuses to euthanize for overpopulation and I have managed to find places for almost 70 dogs now since February.

Amy, do you want me to send the link to my rescue contacts to see if they're interested? If I find some interest, can anyone on here drive for a transport?

That's your call. I don't want you to take up space you would use for Lagrange. It sounds like although this is a kill, they are pretty good about trying not to PTS.

I think as of right now I have no plans for the weekend of the 16, that I could do part of a transport. Rest of the month is pretty booked :(

Well - I live in this county - and have been to this shelter a time or two - and can say that they are over worked/underpaid/overbooked, but really try hard to place the pets. I also don't have to much planned for the weekend of the 16th. So I am offering up my services if transport is needed - I can drive a leg out of here.

Here's part of the email I got from someone who volunteers at that shelter and has pulled from there before.

"The last statistics I saw for Franklin county were I believe from 2002 - they took in almost 15,000 dogs that year and just under 3,000 made it out through adoption or rescue. "

Not great odds.
