Thanks to everyone who stopped in and to those who posted last week.

Sometimes it's tough to look back at things......It's one part of life we all go thru....

---------------------------------------------------------------------

I am kinda busy today......

I think the topic for this week should be The Good, The Bad and The Ugly......

I thought this would be a good one since some of us took the evil test this past week...

The good? People who scored under 25%! The bad? 26-60%

The ugly.....Well, I guess that goes to us evil over-achievers!!!

I hereby declare an open bar!!!

DJFyrewolf36

Catnip tea for my Remus kitty and I guess a beer for me. Sigh, mum is sick and it's her birthday too!! How rotten is that? So here I am stuck at work, stopping in at Thursdays, celebrating for my mum who is stuck at the doctor. Happy 48 mom!

Well, I guess I fall under the "bad" category, but then again I look in the mirror and well....that's another story.

Busy work day for me too but I'm a woman and can multi-task! ;) Wasn't my friend Clint in that movie?? I think the DOTD should have somewhat of a Western theme.

I think I'll just sport my gun and holster, shimmy up to the bar and order a double-shot of whiskey. Anyone for a game of poker?

DF: sorry about your Mom but wish her a happy birthday from me.

Thanks Richard, I have been waiting for the bar to open, I almost asked someone with a set of keys to open it early.

It has been one of THOSE days. I have spent the morning reading/calculating the cost of treating dementia versus those with no dementia ... real exciting huh (NOT!)

To top things off I have developed "mouse fingers". It is now painful to use my index fingers on my mouse hand (i.e. right hand). I forgot how difficult it is to type without all ten fingers  (This could get really ugly if it doesn't get better soon.)

So do we have a drink of the day yet?? Right now I wouldn't mind something to numb the hand (and certainly the brain) ... any suggestions Richard?

I feel your pain Emily, my boss has been having me re do this presentation for her for the past week now. My poor finger is about moused out! Im about to call Remus in to do something about my mouse problem! Want me to ask him to do something for your mouse problem too? lol.

Thanks for the Well-wishes, Slick. Mom will apriciate that someone cares :)

I get cramps in my mouse fingers when playing that game Shape Shifter. It's so much fun. Anyway, I fall in the bad category, just barely. It's funny, I really did think I'd score higher. I'm kind of disappointed. We have no DOTD so, how about this one?

Wicked Tasty Treat

Ingredients:
1 oz Cinnamon Vodka (Stoli)
1 oz Amaretto
1 oz Kahlua
1 oz Bailey's irish cream
1 oz Cream
Mixing instructions:
Dip the rim of cocktail glass in Amaretto and then into powdered sugar. Shake all alcohol and cream with ice and strain into rimmed cocktail glass. Garnish with Cinnamon stick and whipped cream (optional)
I really love cinnamon so this fits. Enjoy!

Well, Mt. St. Helen's is turning into a bore - no news today and now the chance of a major eruption is dimishing. So I think I'd like a mudslide.

I wish that Remus could do something about my mouse problem, but I think that Emily and Charlie were two of the reasons that I developed it (they were "helping" me last week when I was working at home). I just don't want it to develop into carpel tunnel (I work on a computer all day so that would definitely not be a good thing).

But that DOTD definitely sounds good, I more than willing to be a quality control tester for this one ;)

Well, things are looking pretty quiet in here right now so I think I'll slip down in this easy chair and wait for the "happening crowd" to arrive. Don't feel much like drinking.
Worried about Gini, she has not been posting much. Where's Laurie and Debbie and Corinna and the others?
**sigh** Oh well, I guess unlike me, they have lives and business to take care of outside of Pet Talk. Hope they are all doing OK, especially you Laurie. ((HUGS))

'Morning everybody! Yeah, I'm here (at work that is) wishing I was somewhere else. We're finishing up a job and my boss is on a total rampage lately. He doesn't return phone calls and he cancels appointments, then I get to deal with all the aggravated people who either haven't heard from him or have had an appointment canceled. They sit and bitch at me - like that's really going to get them another appointment sooner.

I've also had a "crick" in my neck since Monday. Can't look left for the life of me. Yesterday it seemed to be getting better, today it's worse again. :(

So, I think I'll start my weekend today. I'm going to ignore the irate customers and I'm going to douse myself in Slick's Baileys until I can turn my head completely around like Linda Blair.

Slick, how about a splash of coffee with my Baileys? And make it a small splash and why not add something good and strong to it while you're at it.............ugh, isn't it Saturday yet?

Slick checking in once more. My mornings are really busy now because I'm catsitting so I'm out the door at 7:30 to spend at least an hour with the two orangie boys before I'm on the job at 10am. Gini, one of them is the spittin' image of Rascal and just as loving.

Thanks to everyone who's checking in and thanks for the PM Gini. Don't you people know that when you're gone for a couple of days we begin to wonder? I'm glad it wasn't a funk that kept you away.

Hi Debbie: Don't worry, the recipe for Baileys calls for a fifth (see, I can speak American :D) of Whiskey but who measures??? Enjoy. Just don't eat any pea soup before moving your head. :D

Laurie: on the way to work I was thinking about these kisses we are sharing.....isn't that how rumours get started??? :D  My name is not Britney nor Madonna......:D

DJF: I promise I won't breath a word to the boss.

Bartender, I'm about to start my work day now so please give me something tall and strong, preferrably in boxers. Thanks.

*Sings*
Lead to the river
Midsummer, I waved
A ā€˜V’ of black swans
On with hope to the grave
All through Red September
With skies fire-paved
I begged you appear
Like a thorn for the holy ones

I LOVE gothic break up songs :D Good songs to sing after you've had a beer or several ;)

Sing along Remus! You can too Mario!

I'd post the rest of the lyrics but it gets kind of...umm graphic. Not overtly so but I don't want anyone getting any bad ideas

I'm back and I'm in shock! Anybody here this story?

http://www.nj.com/news/ledger/index.ssf?/base/news-18/109712604853600.xml

http://www.injersey.com/news/c-n/story/0,2111,1072303,00.html

Well, I knew the guy from Hawthorn Woods, IL! I never actually met him, but I talked to him on the phone all the time. He was a project manager for a few jobs we did. My boss knows him personally, and even took him and his two kids (the third kid is only 3 months old!) out on his boat during the summer. He was always really nice to me on the phone and and never seemed irate or irritated like some project managers. He was always really helpful in getting the answers I needed - like when are we going to be paid.

I heard the news story last night on the news and heard his name, but I didn't connect it with him because there is NO way I would ever think the guy I talked to would kill his parents!  He was just a normal guy! Amazing how people can just snap like that. And it's SO sad because obviously his wife had no idea and all their kids are under 8 - and like I said, the youngest is just 3 months old.:(

Oh, and thanks to Slick's Baileys, I can now turn my head to the left. Haven't gotten it all the way around yet, but I'm headed home for some split pea soup for dinner, and then I'll attempt the full turn. ;) :D

Hope everybody has a great evening. I'll probably be contemplating the meaning of life - and how things can go so bad so quickly - for the rest of the evening.....

Have a great day, everyone!

LOGAN, I never liked grits as a kid but now I LOVE grits... sometimes with some butter or even, when I'm feeling decadent, some real maple syrup. Scrambled eggs fluffy and not too dry and a Bloody for you my friend. My Bloodies have a touch of horseradish, some Worstershire sauce and just a dash of Old Bay over the top. OK? After breakfast we can set up a game of "Wack-a-Mole" and get crazy...

Hi girls!!

Perhaps while we're here we could raise our Bloody Marys and drink a toast to the new Scottish parliament building. It's just three years late and has cost 10 times the original estimate, but it will be offically opened by the queen tomorrow! Impressive, eh?

lbaker
10-08-2004, 07:58 AM
Just an ignorant American here but who is your Queen? The only queen of Scotland I'm familiar with is Margaret, the grand-daughter of Edmund Ironside born in 1045. My lack of European history is shameful.. :(

:D We haven't had our own for a number of years now (since 1603, I believe). I just meant the normal British queen. Elizabeth II :D

KK,congratulations on your new parliment building. Are you going over to watch the Queen dedicate it? Laurie, you have my mouth watering for those grits! And a couple of those BMs won't hurt either! Feel like hearing some oldies?

**yawn** Good morning everyone. As I sit here and look out at the dark, it's rainy and windy and just yucky. Good day to be stuck inside at Thursdays on a Friday.

I see you guys are already hard at it, toasting the Queen and all. Hey did you know that my Mom named me after Queen Victoria? She wanted to give me a name of dignity.

**scratches butt**
**wipes nose and sniffs**

That breakfast sure does sound good. I'm starved. I'll take good helping of grits with a side order of scrambled eggs.

Nice to see you here Laurie.
Hi KK.
Hi Logan.

How very droll Slick, we are not amused ;) David, while we are being veddy veddy British let's hear some Brit oldies, but not Beatles... that's just ever so predictable. Eggs are on, and with a last minute inspiration of English Muffins! English Muffins and grits... now that's a fine how-do-you-do  Oh well, Bloodies for everyone... my treat.

Oops, sorry, I was away trying to find out who Edmund Ironside was. How do you know him?

She's not normal in the sense of "ordinary" certainly!

David, I won't be going over to join the party. I'm sure it would have been nice, but I am going to meet Lynne (Stankard) tomorrow!! I'm all excited! :D

Music, hmmm. I saw Elvis Costello the other night in Glasgow. Is that a bit too "current" for our little gathering?

Hi Slick! I've heard from those who know that you are very sophisticated!

Logan
10-08-2004, 08:48 AM
Karen! I didn't know you were going to meet Lynne! How wonderful!!!! :) You guys have a great time, and PLEASE take some pictures of the two of you!!!!

Hey, they don't eat grits in the UK, do they? They should! But, I doubt they'd be dignified enough (heck, the only ones who truly love grits live in the southern US anyway). :p

Laurie, your Bloody Mary recipe sounds divine, exactly the way I would make it myself, although I've never tried the Old Bay seasoning before. Yummy! My mouth is watering already.

Karen, please please give Lynne a BIG {{{HUG}}} from me. We've PM'd each other a few times and it seems that we both have the same sense of humour. I would so love to meet you and her. Yes, pictures, pictures, pictures.

Would anyone mind if I lit the fireplace??

Some people garnish the Bloody with a lime, I like to hang a shrimp over the edge of the glass! Just for fun. Maryland IS South of the Mason Dixon Line so I guess that qualifies me as a Southern Belle??? or something

Light my fire Slick! I have some good, dry apple wood out back...mmmm makes the room smell soooo good. Takes the chill out of the air and warms the cockles of my heart to hear the crackling of the wood  don't even go there Slick Give Lynn a HUGE group hug from us Karen!

I actually found a link devoted to Grits!!!! :)

What are grits? (http://www.grits.com/discript.htm)

I liked my grits cooked a LONG time and slowly. When I eat them, I put butter in them, and love those scrambled eggs on the side. Sausage is good too! :) I also learned a little secret from my mom...a pinch of baking soda in the early stages of the cooking give them a little boost. You just have to be careful not to put too much. When I was a kid, we loved to have grits when we were at the beach because the water was different there and they were just better. With all the water purification systems in place now, beach water is the same as ours now, so the baking soda sort of helps out instead. :)

Oh, and Laurie, a shrimp on the glass sounds wonderful! I am not a fan of lime in the Bloody Mary. I much prefer a stalk of celery, but I think the shrimp would be great!!!! :)

Good morning everyone! I've been outside dragging huge tree limbs to the front to add to our brush pile. It's now taller than I am. Don't know when they're going to pick it up. I've always liked this saying for waking up: Wakey wakey, eggs and bakey(bacon) I'm getting hungry! I was eating breakfast at Shoney's one time and this woman didn't know what grits were. I couldn't believe it.

Ok. Will do. He's just come in from his morning constitutional and is all frisky now. He always runs around like crazy after that. Wish it had that affect on me. I love bacon, too. Can't stand it when it's too thin. Got to go search for some coffee. Haven't even had that yet.

Don't mean to put a damper on things but can we all just take a minute and say a prayer for Toby on the dog side. Seems he has to have sir jury again and ComedyDevil can use all the support we can muster up right now.

I'm off to feed some kitties then to work. Catch you all later.

*Yawn* TGIF! I am so sick of powerpoint, who came up with this garbage anyhow?

My Brother in law invented a drink last night:

Pinapple Juice and Sake, quite a wake up call, but very tasty!

Anyone have any ideas of what to call it?

I'll take two!! And a CNT for my boy, make sure you add a shrimp for him too!

Prayers for Toby here, poor boy :(

What a combination! Did you mix it like a highball??

I'm going to bring in some more wood and stoke up the fire a bit. Maybe one Thursday we could have a wood-chopping day. It might be a long winter ahead of us.

Have not booked yet because I'm hoping to get a last-minute deal. So far it's going to cost $80 CDN for the night and that's with the CAA discount. I did call the hotel directly and the price they quoted me was alot higher. Will let you know. All I have to do now is secure a cat-sitter for the night.

{{HUGS}} back and in a few weeks they will be real hugs!!! :)
