WE ONLY HEAR ABOUT PEOPLE LIKE THIS ON OPRAH!

I am writing on behalf of a REMARKABLE and ADMIRABLE WOMAN who is often too humble to ask for help, although she finds herself in desperate need of it. I met Shirley while working for a local animal shelter. I soon found out that she had about 30 cats roaming her house! The more I leared about her, the more fascinated I became about her loving nature. I learned so much from Shirley about animals and, realizing the humanitarian feat she was performing, I also began to help her.

Shirley has dedicated her life to rescuing domestic animals and uses her small home to give haven to the ABANDONED and ABUSED. Shirley has found herself caring for too many cats/kittens and is truly desperately in need of finding them loving human companions.

Shirley funds her rescues mainly by playing music at local functions. She has been written about in local newspapers. Her dedication extends to lending help to other local domestic and wildlife rescue groups. Many find Shirley to be an inspiration who is relentless in the rescue, medical care, and education of abandoned animals. She does this all by herself - I often refer to her as Saint Frances of State College or Jane Goodall of the Cats!! She often is out in the middle of night, trapping cats in peril so that each of them has a chance to live and find a human companion.

If you can do anything at all to help Shirley out, I believe she is truly deserving. While finding good homes for the cats/kittens is a top priority, Shirley also needs help with on-going care. Shirley never asks, but always shows TREMENDOUS GRATITUDE when helped.

I am posting this story because I have seen what Shirley is capable of and people who give of themselves without asking for anything in return should really be helped by the rest of us.

Shirley remains an inspiration and she has taught me so much about what it truly means to RESCUE an animal, to AID an animal in peril, and to CONNECT with a kingdom of creatures that never asks anything more from us than equality and respect.

Thanks for helping my good friend Shirley.

I can forward your emails to Shirley by writing to me <[email protected]>.
(I have taken digital pictures of Shirl's cats - so they are available along
with a story written by her of each cat/kitten)

You can call Shirley directly at 814-238-4758 (State College, PA).

Your kindness is appreciated. Tell everyone about Shirley!

There are many Pet Talkers just like Shirley who trap and rescue. God bless them all.

BTW Ingrid, I want to welcome you to Pet Talk. My name is Vickie and I live in BC Canada and owned by two cats. Max the Persian is 11 and Speckles the Tabby is 17. Do you have pets of your own?
