I'm not sure if that's the right word/spelling..anyway, I was wondering what it means when an older cat does this? I understand nursing kittens do it, and I guess it's just a habit? Kiba use to always do that when we first got her, then she stopped doing it for the longest time. Then tonight when I was patting her she started doing it again. I was kinda suprised as she hasn't done it in so long...

I have always thought they do it because they love you! You remind them of their mommy and are telling you that they trust and love you. I have a cat, Grey Girl, who kneeds and sucks on my blankets.:)

I always thought it was a thing of comfort for them. Pouncer wakes me up nearly every morning by sitting on my stomach and kneeding away. Its sooo cute and I am reluctant to wake up because then he'd have to stop! :D

I don't know why they do it, but Grover does it all the time when I am sitting at the computer.

Oh I see. Would it be weird that she just started again after she moved here with me? I stayed with her at my moms for the summer and she never did that, then there was a few weeks that I didn't get to see her much (made me really sad which is why she is living here with me now :)) and you say its a comfort thing? It's only her second day in her new home! I'd be very happy to know she is already settled in. I know Smitten, my moms cat, when we moved to her new place she hid for like 1 week + (and there were no dogs right outside the door!) I'm proud of my girly for taking it so well. I think she's just happy to have the attention...but anyway..I just thought it was weird she just started doing that again

Mr dear Mr SCrappy,used to sit,om my chest,and knead me,and Purrr! I used to get annoyed,once in a while,but now,after he is gone,I would give anything,to have him,there again,showing me,how much,that he loved me!

Mitzi kneads me. Crawls up onto my chest, or my belly or even my thigh (she looks for the soft spots  ) and starts kneading away and purring her little head off. Makes me feel truly loved and reminds me to clip her claws! :)
