Last week my boss pulled me up to her office and reamed me. Apparently the pet department of m store has become "party central" (Because we had two birthday parties for two different co-workers in one week), and I'm in the thick of it, supposedly. I HAVE NOT let any of the parties I've been to affect my work....I leave early enough that I get in to work on time and awake.

She also told me that she had given away the promotion I was expecting to our newest employee because he was a man and she doesn't want any more female management because she feels that customers don't listen to women as much.

THEN she pulled aside one of the managers and told him that she felt I was "Trying to sleep around" with the guys in the department. WTF?!?! Um, NO! I'm rather flirtatious sometimes, but that's just my personality, and for the most part I keep it in check at work, unless I'm joking around with one of my co-workers.

She also told the guy who got my promotion that there are four people in my department that she's going to replace. I have a good feeling that I'm one of them.

I know that her house is tied into the store, so if I sue her for discrimination and defamation of character she may well lose everything she has. I have yet to decide if I'm that angry, but I AM talking to a lawyer, especially after today...

I got a call at 9am asking me to come in to work. Someone called in sick, nobody else they could call, blah blah blah. One of the nice managers called me, and I'm too damned nice to say no. This now means that I will have THIRTEEN DAYS with no actual BREAK, because I have school on my days off from work EXCEPT Sundays. When I realized that I freaked out, and just started crying...

I'm going in at noon. If my b*tch boss is there I'm going to ask her if I'm one of the people she is replacing. If the answer is yes, I'm quitting on the spot. If not, I'm going to demand a day off later in the week, because I NEED to get caught up on homework, clean animal cages, do laundry, clean my room, wash my car, study for midterms...alll the stuff that piles up during the week while I'm at my stupid job.

It sucks that it has come to this after I've been there TWO YEARS...and I've been one of the most reliable employees that whole time. I don't call in sick (Except for the one time I really was), I'm on time, if per chance I'm going to be late I CALL IN, I do my job without cutting corners, and I'm GOOD with the customers. I may not be a people person but I sure can pretend.

{{{{hug}}} I know the feeling I had the same problem at a job . I finally found something else and told them to take a hike. I'm much happier (now I'm management after only 2 years) I found out it took 3 people to replace me . That was the best part of the whole thing ,well not really the woman who made me misable got fired. The new gal called to offer my job back. (heard though freind they wanted to get rid ogf the 3 for budget costs) I of course said NO. (very evil laugh) :D

I know how you feel. I had the evil boss from H**L once. I got called in on my day off because they were short handed, was on shift for damn near three hours and then I got fired. Talk about respect! I would talk to a lawyer for sure. What she said about not promoting women is grounds enough for a discrimination suit. I would have sued my jerk manager (he did a lot of stupid stunts) but corporate fired him about a week after he fired me :p

My "boss" started in May.

He was off about 3.5 weeks in May and June

He 'worked' 8 days in July
5 in August and 7 in September.

He has had Bronchitis, pneumonia, gall stones, a bad back, bad neck, headaches and sleep apnea.

He wants to go on disability and is pissed off because the doctor's can't find anything wrong with him.

He makes changes on the system and doesn't tell me about them,
He takes people's mistakes and gives them to back for corrections.

He xeroxes mine and keeps copies.

I caught him in a giant lie-he took some records home so he could do some work, he was gone for three weeks. When I asked him if he found the 'lost' stuff he told me that they were in his desk in an envelope. That is the third time I caught him in a lie-so now he doesn't bother to talk to me at all (thank god!!)

His mother works in the regional offices and is best friends with the head of our facility.

So I am screwed until he gets his 'disability' leave.

You may want to look into CA state labor laws. I believe that after a certain amount of consectuative days worked, they are REQUIRED to pay you double pay.

Someone that used to work with us found that out. I think she worked 11 or 12 days in a row. And I'm almost positive its writen in all the labor laws/OSHA paperwork in our bathroom.

You should look into that, at least. Hope things get better. You may have a very jealous boss, maybe she's just mad she's not invited in all the fun. ;)
