I am very upset to report that Brook has a bad heart. She has been getting very very skinny latly and her coat is going bad. I normally take this as an old age sign as my other rats, when they reached the age of 2 years old, also became like this and died a month or so after.
What surprised me was that she was breathing EXTREMLY fast and hard, her whole little body was shaking. :( We took her to the vet and what the vet thinks is that her heart is bad. It's pumping to fast and isnt' getting enough oxygen around her body which is making her breath faster and harder. She said her being skinny and her coat being like this is 1. Because of old age and 2. She is useing most of her energy to breath.
We have an apointment on Monday to go back to the vets and see if anything can be done. If not we aren't sure what we will do. She is stil active, eating and drinking. She still grooms and things, but I don't want her to be in any pain.
I feel really stupid though because I cried when she told me that Brook most likly won't make it through this and that she is at the end of her life. I hate crying infront of people, thankfully my vet is a very sweet lady who understands how much my little ones mean to me.
I'm sorry it took me so long to post this. We found out a few days ago. I just can't accept the fast she is leaving. Not my baby girl. I still need her.
