I want some sort of change on me:p
It could be anything...
I'm tired of being plain and simple. I have short brown hair and one earring in each ear.
I want to dye my hair... or streak it...or cut it...
I want to get either one more peircing in each lobe, or just one in the cartilage!
Problem is, my mother won't let me do *any* of those.
Does anybody have a good argument I can put up to her as to *why* I should be able to do this? Do you think I should?
I mean...I don't see what the big deal is about earrings and/or hair!

I really don't have much advice, my parents where the same way when I was growing up. I just delt with it, I figured it was their house and their money so I learned to live with it. As soon as I moved away and went to college I dyed my hair every color imaginable, got peircing and tattoos. To this day (I'm 23 now) my parents still have no idea I have tattoos, I hope to keep it that way! Maybe you and your mom can come to an agreement. Maybe you can look through magazines together and find a cute and trendy hairstyle that isn't too crazy but still looks cool. Plus I'm sure your mom would enjoy spending time with you looking through the magazines trying to find something.

I also wanted to add since you mentioned getting another peircing on your earlobe, maybe you could get magnetic earings. I remember my sister had some because my mom wouldn't let her get a second pericing. They looked really good too, you can't really tell that they aren't real. Then you can have the look you want but your mom might be ok since there is no actual piercing.

Ok, thanks:) I may try those magnetic earrings, do you know, are they expensive?

The magnetic earings are pretty cheap, I think around $5 a pair. My sister used to get them at a store called Claire's, I think almost every mall has one of those stores. Here's a link and it shows you what they look like. But I think they also sell them in different designs.

I love blond streaks in brown hair. I think it looks good. Also, I had to wait until I was 12 before I got my ears pierced at all! I just this year got the piercing high up on the ear. I was told it takes a year to get well. I really don't have any suggestions as to talking to your mom, though. I don't have kids. However, as liberal as I am, I wouldn't let you get the cartilege piercing until you were an adult and decided you wanted it. I would let you get the 2nd regular piercing, though. But, that's just me. It all depends on how she was raised, too. I don't see a problem getting your hair done. Although it can sometimes be a little pricey. Good luck!

Thank you :)
The price really isn't a factor..(I know people who can do it for me with just the store bought kind)....I don't know. I started to type, but then I realized it was gonna be something reeeally long that didn't have to do with this, so I quit. Anyone else have any ideas on what I can say?

How old are you? Just wondering how long until you're 18 and can do (in theory) whatever you want! ;) :D
Maybe buy some new clothes, paint your nails black, or do something else different yet not permanent that gives you a feeling of change. Style your hair differently without cutting it. Maybe go in for a trim, and have the stylist "accidentally" take off too much... ;) What about temporary hair color?
Honestly, I can understand her not wanting you to get piercings, but hair color? Unless you want to dye your hair blue or something, I don't see what her problem could be. Maybe just talk her into one small change at a time - can I take 2 inches off my hair? Can I get a cartilage piercing? One thing at a time! Be persistent. She probably is just afraid you want to do these things now and will regret them in a week. Keep asking and begging (be nice about it! ;) ) and I bet she gives in to at least one thing soon! :D
Good luck!

I'm one of "those" moms. :o My daughter is 13. She wants a second hole in each earlobe so badly. I will give her credit that she has backed off of the cartilage piercing in her upper ear, though. I have told her that when she is 18, and on her own, with her own money, she will have the right to do whatever she wants with her body (and I'm sure I won't like a lot of it), but right now, I want her to be satisfied with what she has (one hole in each earlobe). My daughter has long, straight, brown hair, and as a reward for good grades (straight A's), a couple of years ago, I allowed her to have highlights put in around her face. It was lovely, and not overdone. Since then, she has had it done again a couple of times (also as a reward for good grades).
There are so many things that you can do to change your look, without a permanent change (like piercings, tatoos, hair color), and in time, Maria, you'll be able to make all those decisions for yourself. :) In the meantime, spoken like a true mother, I would say to respect your mother's views and do those things like were suggested, by maybe changing your hairstyle, even the types of earrings you wear, or clothing that you wear. You'd be amazed at how your mom would probably love to work on that type of thing with you! I certainly do. :)
Good luck, and hang in there.

I too am one of those mothers, my daughter is 12, and I gave into pressure and let her dye her hair, and I regret it, she wants to keep changing it, from blonde to red, she was a natural Ash blonde, but her hair has now gone darker, she does however pay for the hair dye herself, I would have preferred to pay more and have blonde highlights in her hair, which would have brought through her natural blonde again I think.
I know its hard growing up and wanting these things, but you will soon be old enough to do whatever you want, so hang on in there, maybe your mother will compromise and let you have suttle highlights like Logan's daughter.

Im 14,and the first time i coloured my hair was when i was 12.I died it a different coloured blonde, than what my natural colour was. Now,i dont even know what my natural colour is.I was dying it blonde until last November,i dyed it dark brown, then i put red highlights in it,then in July i died it again,so nows its like reddish brownish blondish...LOL that was alot:o
I've gotten some crazy hair cuts too.My hair is medium length, and its that haircut that is short in the back, and long in the front,i love it but its a pain to always have to style it almost everyday.:( but i like it,and in the summer i want to get bangs!
For peicings i have 2 in each ear,and i have my cartilage peirced.and i want to get a third peicing then thats it for me!.I want to get my nose peirced but there really strict down here( Houston,Texas),so i cant have it:( but if i was living in Canada then i probly would get it.
i dont know how you could convince your mom, have you told her that you;ll use your own money?? that always works for me;) i dont see the big deal about cutting you hair,or getting you ears peirced??Is you mom strict or anything??
