What do you think of a Pitbull

I have heard so many bad tales about Pitbulls, I am curious, How are they as pets ? We have a young couple who bought the house next door and they have a pitbull & another dog...Were just wondering is all of the tales true ? are they mean dogs and do they turn on you as much as people says they do ??? I myself have never been around a pitbull, Not that I am afraid just never have had the opportunity.

I really really like pits, they are great dogs, and gorgeous too. I've met lots of pits and so far they've all been nice :D

I've never met one so called "vicious" Pit Bull. ALL of the Pits I've came across have been total love bugs, and great companions.

Their bad reputation is due to irresponsible and ignorant people who breed and fight these dogs, and treat them inhumanly. Pit Bulls were bred to be ANIMAL aggressive, and not human aggressive. There's a big difference.

I love them! :D Unfortunately, the shelter I volunteer at usually has quite a few of them (as well as Rotts). They're really great dogs though! They're generally very friendly and good family pets (maybe not so good for families with small kids though. They like to cuddle and often don't seem to know just how big and strong they are! :D).

I think they are great dogs!

My pittie cousins are agressive with other dogs because they haven't been socialized, but are still sweethearts!

Lucky on the other hand, does get along with other animals :)

Pit Bulls are my favorite breed of dog. Dogs are just like babies. You raise a child in a situation -- beating, mistreating it, and so on.. it will more than likely turn into one messed up adult. Just like a dog. You beat and abuse a dog, it will become aggressive. Treat it with love, train it correctly, socialize it -- it will become an angel.


I hate when people think badly of one breed when they've never had any experience with them at all, only by going by what someone else says.


I've never met a Pit Bull with a mean bone in it's body. Most Pit bulls would just lick you to death and drown you in slobber.


Another thing I hate is people who think Pit Bulls have a locking jaw. That's NOT true. It's a myth.

I myself can not wait for the new neighbors to move in so I can meet this lil fellow...It's gonna be interesting I think...I have always wanted to meet a Pit but like I said I have just never had the opportunity. It's gonna be fun, The new neighbors were so glad to learn we are dog lovers as well....I will post pics as soon as they get setteled in, They will be moving in around 30 days from now after the closing on their house, I will let them know about the site, I have no clue if they have a PC or not...Every one have a good day...

i put bad simply because there have been many accounts of pitties attacking children. i like pits and i think they make great pets,but they are not the greatest pets for eveyone.

I voted good. pitties are *great* dogs, I also have nieghbors with 2 pit bull rescues, they are the "neighborhood dogs", love all the kids around here, and we never hear a bark out of them. theyre so sweet, even though both came from previously abusive homes.

I am so glad your first time meeting a pit bull was positive.
They really are terrific dogs.
But you do have to keep in mind, they are very strong and just like ANY breed they can be rubbed the wrong way and get upset. It's a matter of obedience, breeding and general upbringing that will make the difference.

I absolutey think thet are great dogs. My sister has a male was just shy of a year old and he is the biggest lover I have ever met. They get a bad rep because of they do look intimidating and most people get them for all the wrong reasons which is horrible. Any dog can be vicious if you treat them badly. But all in all I love them!!! I've got 2 dobies so I know all about bad reps and sometimes I get upset when people treat them as though they are living man eaters or something!!

I think they get a bad rap, like rotties, dobies, and german shepherds. Here's a pic of my sister's beloved RB pittie, Shine. My sister has four kids and Shine was wonderful with all of them.
