Hi there,
My name is Prissy. I am the Pet of the Day today!!! This is what I wanted to tell everyone, but my mom said I was a little long-winded to put it in the Pet of the Day column. So she is posting it here for me!! And don't forget to look at my picture in the attachment at the bottom of this post! It's me with one of my pretty bows in my hair!!
I am 2 and 1/2 years old. I am a Lop mix and I live in Texas. And I'll tell you what... I have the best life a bunny could ever have!!
My mom "rescued" me from the pet store. She found me when I was two months old and it was love at first site. The ignorant pet store told her I was a male. But since then, we know for sure I am not. How dare they think I was a boy! Couldn't they see how beautiful- and feminine I am??? Anyway, I am my mom's first pet bunny. She spoils me to death! She bought a three story condo for me to stay in when she is gone to work. It is big and roomy! But when she is home, I get to have the run of the house! She even lets me sleep in her bedroom under the bed or behind the armoire every night.
One of my favorite things to do is chew on anything that is rubber or leather. One day I found this thing on the floor with all kinds of rubber buttons (my mom calls it a remote control for the TV). Boy was it ever fun chewing all those rubber buttons off! And another day I found all kinds of cords behind my mom's computer. It took me a while to chew all of those in half! And then I saw something hanging on the kitchen chair. I had to work really hard to reach it, but I finally got a bite out of it, and then another, and then another. Later, when I heard my mom yell my name, I knew that maybe I shouldn't have tried so hard. When she found me, she was wearing her leather coat - the one I helped trim the sleeves on. She said something about making a coat out of me - but I don't know what she was talking about. She was just kidding though. Sometimes she gets bent out of shape and I don't understand why - hee-hee! But she always gets over it and gives me lots of hugs and kisses and pets. I noticed that she never leaves her shoes out on the floor anymore, and she has all of the cords that I like to chew on covered so I can not get to them. Sometimes she takes all the fun out of things!
Some of my favorite treats that my mom gives me are pears, bananas, apples, lettuce, cheerios, peanut butter crackers, oatmeal, lucky charms, cilantro, and the best one of all - CHOCOLATE!!! I will come running from anywhere in the house when I get a whiff of chocolate!! It's the best! But I don't get to have treats very often. My mom says it is not because I don't deserve them, but it's because they can mess up my insides and we don't want that to happen. I have a very delicate balance in my tummy that should not be messed up or I will get sick. So I mostly eat lots of Timothy hay and some Oxbow timothy rabbit pellets. I like when my mom stuffs an empty toilet paper tube with hay so I can try and get it out. Oh, and by the way, don't believe that old wives tale about rabbits and carrots. I don't even like carrots! I might take a bite or two out of a carrot shaving, but give me a whole carrot and I turn my nose up at it in a flash!
Did I mention that I am not a huge fan of getting wet? Bunnies, as I am sure you know, do not have to be bathed. We keep ourselves clean like a cat. But thank goodness we are not physically able to throw up. So we do not have those disgusting hair balls like cats do! One day I found something new in the house. But it was too tall for me to see what was on the top of it. So I decided to jump right up there and see what it was all about. When I jumped, I didn't realize that I would fall into a pool of water. I couldn't get out of there fast enough!! Later my mom explained that was the toilet! That was her "litter box". Was that ever a scary day! Ever since then, my mom keeps the toilet lid down and I don't dare try to jump up there any more! I scared my mom to death and myself too!!
When I am done being mischievous, I like to either lay in the window sill or under my mom's bed. Oh, and did I mention that I am obviously potty trained? That is another misunderstood issue about rabbits. NO, we do NOT leave little bunny poops everywhere we go! Not if we are litter trained anyway! My gosh - don't you think if cats can do it, we can too?? I am an extremely neat bunny and would not ever imagine being otherwise. I only go potty in my litter box, which my mom cleans for me at least three times a week. Plus, since my house (cage) is carpeted, how dumb would that be for me to get the carpet soiled!?!?
Once my mom took me to her friend's house and let me meet another bunny. I looked at that bunny and never realized that I was one of those! That bunny was obnoxious! He hopped around and licked my face and everything - ICK! That boy probably had cooties! I would much rather just be alone with my mom! That way I get all the love and attention and spoiling!
Well, I have to go now. My mom is telling me that she has to go bye-bye, which means I need to get downstairs and get into my cage. I always know when she calls me that I need to come. Plus, it also usually means I will get a little tasty treat! When she is gone, she plays soft, soothing music for me to listen to. I like that! I spread out in my cage and relax until she comes home.
Gosh I have a great life! And I love knowing that my mom loves me and she thinks I am the best, cutest, most greatest bunny that ever lived!
Thanks for hearing me out! Bunnies rule!

Prissy, I was grinning from ear to ear when I saw your picture yesterday and read your story. My home is not blessed with the presence of a bunny for a pet, but you make me wish it was! :)
What a special, fun and happy girl you are. And I love it that you checked in on this message thread and told us even more about you!!! :)
Congratulations to you on being a very special Pet of the Day!!!! :D
Welcome to Pet Talk, too, Prissy!!!! :)

Prissy
It was so sweet of you to hop by and leave us a note. You look even more adorable with the bow in your hair.
It would be wonderful if your mommy would post a picture of you from time to time in the pet general section. That way we can get to know you better and see what you have been doing!
(((HUGS))):D
