Hi and welcome to PT.:) Yes, my cats do sleep a lot and this is normal. I think that most cats sleep between 16-18 hours a day. They aren't always in a deep sleep though and are usually quite alert to what is going on around them.:)

If you think the sleeping seems excessive (more than what krazyaboutkatz quoted), it would pay to see a vet as there could be some medical issue underlying the problem.
