Hi there,
I brought li'l Kaboodle home today after her spaying day before yesterday and, boy is she ever stressed! Possum calmed down after a while but Kaboodle just cries and cries. She's not in pain, I can tell, but she just wants out of that garage. I wish I could accommodate her and let her be w/her family but I can't. The vet said to keep her calm for a couple of days and to restrict her movement. She won't sleep in the bed I provided for her. She insists on sleeping behind a desk I have stored in the garage just like Possum did, except Possum eventually liked the bed. I watched her groom herself and lounge around as if to say "Hmm, I've got this vacation from the kids. May as well take advantage of it." Maybe after Kaboodle gets a good night's sleep under her belt, she'll feel better.

Any suggestions, anyone, on how I can make her more comfortable?

Blessings,
M

Does she have a favorite toy you could leave with her?

Do you have the time to take a book or stationery or some sewing and work in her presence?

Hmmm, I'll try to think of some more things....

Actually, I do go in the garage w/her and have my morning coffee and when I get home from work, I have a cup of tea. She won't sit on my lap for long. She just goes in and out between my legs and cries. Toys, forget it. None of the outdoor kitties bother w/them. I did put another afghan out for her closer to the door to the house and that seems to help somewhat. I'll just do my best to spend more time w/her until I can release her to be w/her family.

Thanx for the suggestions, though. I really appreciate it.

Blessings,
M

You were thinking a good night's sleep would help her a lot. Did it, so far as you can tell?

It did a little bit. But she cried during the night. And she heard me pull in the driveway when I got home from work today and she started crying again. As I said, I don't think she's in any pain. She's just stressed and wants to go out w/the rest of the family. I'm going to let her out tomorrow. I'll be home all evening because I'm packing, getting ready to go to LA for a week to visit my son. (I pity my poor house/critter sitter. She's used to it, though, I guess. But 20 cats is a big responsibility.) So I'll be able to check on Kaboodle more often and keep her company.

Blessings,
M
