I just got to siamese fighting fish, in one of those tanks that have a wall seperating the to fish. One of them has weird white strinky stuff that hangs on his fin. He looks sick as well, he doesnt swim around much ect. I looked on the internet and is said that a common disease for them to get is fin rot. How do you get this to go away?

I would take a sample of the tank water to the pet store and get it tested. You can talk to them about the fin rot and see what they suggest.

Here is a quick link with some info about it:

One of my betta fishes had fin rot before .. you can buy medication at the pet store that you put in their water .. my betta did recover from it. Better luck next time :(

Don't feel bad! It's not your fault! When you first got her did she look sick? Fish usually die pretty quickly, some lasting 1 week while others last years and years!

No it didnt look sick at all. I bought it because it would jump out of those stupid LITTLE cups that the Pet store put all there fish in. He was lively one the first day, then he just went down hill from there:p

U need to treat ur other fish now. It may look fine, but its will get sick because it was in the same water as the othe one.

Do u use a filter? if not, thats one reason ur fish got sick.
Did u let the water sit for a couple days before u put ur fish in it? thats another reason for the fish dying so quickly, it was in shock & weak so the illness won with ease.
DO u have a heater? if so, is it too high? if so that can make sick very ill & cause fin rot or ick or just kill them.

If ur willing to spend money on the fish to keep them alive, use this stuff

This is AWESOME stuff!!!!

Ever now & then Mango get ick. He get into everything & hurts himself & gets ick on his chin. I treat him only once & its gone for months, unless Mango gets into something else, stupid angry fish.

I treat my feeder goldfish with this stuff before I put them in the pond, other wise they will all die with in an hour. I cannot treat the pond cause that'll harm Axles shell, but just treating the fish for an hour is safe.

This stuff cost me under $10.00 & its almost 2 years old
Also my tanks and fish are MASSIVE compared to ur wee fishies.

Oscar is a foot long, Mango is almost a foot long & Jack is 6 inches ling. Mango's tank is 30 gallong & Oscar's & Jacks tank is 55 gallons.

I let the water sit for just about 3 days, I use a small small filter, no heating lamp though. Thanks for the suggestions I will try them with my new fishy!

wabbitwuver, thats not healthy for ur fish. ur putting him into shock. & all those tiny bubbles make it hard for the fish to breath, because it sticks to their mouths & gills, preventing max. water flow.

dogs_4_me I think u can get a tiny heater (not a lamp) that will either hang onto the side of ur tank or sit at the bottom. for tropical fish (ur fishies). make sure the setting is in the green, mid to lower green is best. I find high green is too warm & they can get sick.

also get a small theomometer to keep an eye on the temp. during the summer add an ice cube to assist in keeping the temp down.
