As most of you know, my dad, Kiara, and I made a trip to Ohio this weekend.
We left Thursday morning. Of course, that's when people were evacuating for Hurricane Frances. It took us 3 hours to go 50 miles. It was literally a parking lot full of Floridians!
The rest areas were full and people were sleeping the the back of their trucks. One thing that really made me smile was the amount of dogs at the rest areas. I was happy to see so many bringing their furry friends with them. One that sticks in my mind was a Husky/Akita mix. He was a gorgeous dog and an old man owned him. He was very gentle and sweet.
Another was a tiny Boxer pup. It was probably half of Kiara's size but she was scared of it!
When arriving in Ohio, we got lost while looking for our hotel. The stupid yahoo maps had us going every which way, when our hotel was RIGHT off the highway. We finally got there and it literally was the hotel from hell.
The wallpaper was coming off in the bathroom and it was all moldy in the shower. The room smelt so bad we went and bought a scented candle to burn.
It was very good for Kiara though because everytime we went out to let her potty SOMEONE had to stop and pet her. In fact, almost everyone was saw stopped to pet her and comment on how cute she is. This one lady is still fresh on my mind, she was with her little boy and they ahd just gotten out of the pool as we were walking down the stairs. She said in her deep country accent.. "Well, she is awfully perrty" over and over as she pet Kiara.
We arrived there Friday and just drove around town, got stuff to eat, went to PetLand, and just explored.
On Saturday we met up with Kristen(LuckiLab03), Riley, and Kristen's mom Nancy. The girls had a wonderful time playing and I had a wonderful time watching them. Kristen and Riley got Kiara a little treat, a yummy bone, for the trip. She stil hasn't aten it yet because I was warned that it was stinky. :p
After meeting up with Kristen and crew, Dad, Kiki and I went back to out Hotel-From-Hell and took a nap. We woke up around 7 or so and did some more exploring. We went to a small lake and watched the ducks. Kiara was afraid of them as well.
After that, we went to some sort of State Park which was really nice. It was very pretty and relaxing. We then got a pizza, and a call from Anna that Angus was sick and she wasn't going to be making it the the meeting.
After eating my pizza, I drew Anna and Angus a "Get Well Soon" type thing and planned to give it to her in the morning.
Well, little did we know our Hotel-From-Hell would turn into a night club.
There was this little lounge type thing that's connected to the hotel. They're open from around 9pm until 2 in the morning. They played loud, loud, music and served alcohol. Well, of course, some people aren't capable of sitting limitations so they became drunken idiots and argued in the hotel hallways (even on the second floor where our room was.) Some guy was even arrested.
We had enough of that and called up Hotel Anna & Mark (Sorry guys!) We got our money back, packed up the truck, and headed off to Piqua to Anna_66's house. We arrived there around 3 in the morning and were invited in by two very special girls and their sleepy mom. We soon fell alseep in Anna's comfortable guest bedroom.
When we woke up in the morning, after letting the girls outside to play and potty and all, Anna and I headed off to see sweet Angus at the vets. I did something i'll never forget and something that is very special to me.. I had fed sweet Angus his yummy canned food. I think it was more of a treat from me than it was for him.
When we got back to Anna's house, Debbie & Dennis (Sirrahved & Sirragned) were there. They followed my dad, Kiki, and I to Findlay.
Going to the Dog Park meeting I wasn't sure what to expect. Kiara has been such a shy, shy girl with everything but she walked in there as if she's been there a million times. I think she sense that there were a group of special people and their special dogs there.
After much fun at the meeting dad, Kiki, and I headed back to Anna's where Robin (RobiLee) and Tori had spent the day. I was very happy to see Robin, a person that i've grown very close to.
Although I was scared because both her and Anna had threatened to steal Kiara, and they had all day to plot such a case. Luckily, my little girl made it home with us!
Tori was just to happy to have someone to pick on instead of begin picked on by Roxey. Of course, Miss Huney school stood back and watched while Roxey sort of played referee.
On Labor Day, although the very sad passing of our sweet Angus, we tried to have as much fun as possible.
After recieving the news when Anna and Mark came home, we gave them their space to grieve and headed off to Robin's.
At Robin's Tori and Kiar of course had a blast and I got to meet the great Katie Bear. That girl is such a sweetheart I wish she could have come out more to play with the girls. I did get to stick my face into her fur and hug her a bit though. :)
Robin treated us to a DELICIOUS dinner.
We had many laughs and chatted a bit, while my dad and Alden chatted. Robin gave us some gifts, which Simba has claimed one of the toys (The Elephant, btw Robin)
Then we were headed off to home. One the way home we ran into Frances, although not as bad as FL got, while in Georgia we had to wait atleast 3 hours while a powerline had fell onto the highway. They finally got it cleared while people had turned off their vehicles and parked and fell asleep. We had to do much honking so that they'd get going!
Our area didn't get much damage at all. Just a bit of tree limps and branches from people who hadn't cut their trees and I saw one tree down in our neighborhood. Our yard is basically spotless though besides leaves.
The other 2 mutts were so happy to see us and just couldn't contain themselves, I'm not sure who was happier though.:p
Ok, sorry for such a long post... the long awaited pictures (for you little snots who have been begging on AIM and PM's :p ) are in the next post..
