I was in a decorating kinda mood...

...i have been wanting to do something, or put something, up on top of my kitchen cabinets, b/c they looked so plain/empty...we have 9 ft. ceilings, and it needed *something* to spice/dress it up...so...here is what i did...thought i would share...

Thanks! Hubby liked it too, so that made it even better :) He wants to put some indirect lighting up there too, for at night, when most of the lights are out in the house...for the effect ;)

What a great idea! I have a lot of empty space above my cabinets like that and it looks so bare. I wonder if I should do something like this to pretty it up! :D I'm just worried about putting something up there that the cats might break or chew on :rolleyes:

I have that same kind of space, Robyn, and I haven't yet figured out what to do with it. Well, I have figured it out, but that means Scott needs to put on his carpentry hat. I want him to build me "cubby holes" across the top where I can show off things that I like to display, without having to clutter the countertops.

That is beautiful!!! We have the same kind of space over the cabinets in the kitchen, and have been thinking what to put up there. It looks so empty. Thanks for the idea. ;) I think I'll tell my mom to do something similar. Looks very nice.

That looks really nice. I like it a lot.
I don't have space above my cupboards like that, but right above the window over the sink in the kitchen there is a nice shelf built in. There are wine glasses and decorative bottles up there now, but I'm waiting to find the "perfect" thing to put up there.

It took me a while to decide what to do with my space up there. I had always lived in apartments and older homes that didn’t have soffits.
