OK so this could get a bit controversial and may end up getting moved to the Dog House, but let's try and not have that happen.

Do you eat meat?

I did all my life, but recently (this month) stopped. Then today I thought I'd like a BBQ chicken sandwich, and it tasted good, but after I ate it I nearly threw it back up. It made me sick and I'm not exactly sure why.

My only weakness is pepperoni on my pizza.

Anyone else?

OK I had one typo up there in the poll - should say 'Vegan,' not 'Began,' my bad!!! :o :o

I used to eat meat - juicy red meat, rare. But after going away to college, being to poor to purchase any, I can't eat it. I can eat fish - white fish that is light in texture and foul, but that is it. The rest makes me sick for days.

Yes, I will admit to eating meet. I really enjoy chicken especially. I often think about begining a more vegetarian life, but I am at a loss as to how. I was brought up to consider a meal to be MEAT, starch (like potato) and vegetable. And this was the way to get ALL the nutrients for a healthy body. I am resistant to change so it is difficult to get the ball rolling.

I have eaten meat for so long that yes I do but I can't think about it...thats sounds wierd but my kids, ages 12 and 13 talk about what we are eating and how we shouldn't eat it and then it gets me thinking.....

I'm vegan and have been for over 2 years now. After some research one day I just made the switch and never looked back. I just made a tofu and spinach lasagne for dinner for my family last night. My Dad wasn't SUPER thrilled but he said it was "pretty good." :p

Lizzie, you probably got sick because your body has slowed its production of certain enzymes used to digest meat. If you are going to start eating meat again you should start with a small portion - not that I'm advocating that! What you experienced is pretty normal so please don't think something is wrong with you.

As always...if anyone has any questions about veganism or vegetarianism then feel free to PM me! :D

Thanks Kater! :) I haven't had any red meat in a long time (except the one night I broke down and had that pepperoni on my pizza). I had that BBQ chicken and while it did taste good, it seriously almost made me sick. It's really not been that hard for me to stay away from meat so far - it's been abotu 2 weeks. I do eat eggs, cheese and drink milk though - I doubt if I could ever give up dairy. Anyway, thanks for the support! :D

I don't eat beef or pork, with the exception of pepperoni (Justin justifies it by saying "it's not real meat", but we all know). I do eat chicken and fish. We both would like to give up meat all together, but there are very few vegetables that I like. As far as tofu goes, Justin is extremely allergic to soy, so that's out too.

I basically live on Chicken, with some Pork and very little red meat as I find it hard to digest, I am allergic to fish, I love my veges, but I don't think I could live on them alone, much as I would like to, I was raised on a farm where meat was ample, so its hard to give up.

I do eat meat........mainly chicken, fish, lamb, goat, beef, etc. I don't eat pork at all for religious reasons....and the meat that I do eat has to be from an animal slaughtered in a certain way (similar to Kosher). I can't imagine not eating meat. Its a part of my life...I guess.

I don't eat much meat now, but I used too.

I hope one day I can finally become a vegetarian. I just need to do some more research, and force myself to do it. :p

I use to just LOVE all meat (except seafood, yucky).

Its only been the past 3 years that I have started to turn my nose up to meat. & I think I know why too.

I've been living at Rob's parents place for the past 3 years & this is what we have for dinner.

partly cooked chicken, partly cooked chicken, partly cooked chicken, partly cooked chicken, partly cooked chicken,
giant saussages, giant saussages, giant saussages, giant saussages, giant saussages, giant saussages, giant saussages,

no veggies to only 1 mouthfull of veggies, but mostly none. 1 box of potatos for 5 people, maybe once every 3 weeks!!!! & more nothing & more nothing, yum!!!

I cannot digest pork, I've been like that for 10 years. Fatty foods just don't agree with my back end. So I avoid all pork except baccon & ribs.

But the past month I don't even want ribs
I only ate 1 pound of ribs for my b-day & I normally eat 2. & Rob's parents bought Ribs a few days back & I took one bite & my body refused to swallow it & it felt like my tummy was twisting so tight that it didn't want it either. But I ate french fries just fine.

I have been refussing to eat pretty much all meats this week. So I'm starting to get quite hungry, & I'm getting sick of eating peanut butter sandwiches all the time, several times aday, or for all meals.

My craving for veggies is getting really bad.
Almost every weekend we go downtown to a buddies place & we split a food bill 1/2 way. The past few months all we pick up is HUGE amounts of salade & I eat so much, so fast, that I almost get sick (barf wise, but I don't barf, but thats another story). I swear my tummy expands when ever I eat that much salade.

We'll buy 3 HUGE bags of the exotic salade mix (I swear there r dandy-lions in it hehehe), 1 bag is ment to feed a family of 4 & the 4 of us will eat all 3 bags of it & still want more, even tho were full.

Yes I eat meat..

God putted animals on Earth for a reason, for humans to eat and survive, if he wanted us to be vegetarians then he wouldn't have created animals to eat.

when I says animals I mean the main cow, pig, chicken ect.

(I'm not saying this is what you meant by your comment, but this is how I took it, maybe I perceived it wrong)

While I do see your point, and dont' disagree with it at all. I don't see (personlly) how you can say what animals are ok to eat and what aren't. As a meat eater myself, I don't think it's right for us meat eaters to say "O, you can't eat rabbit. I have a rabbit as a pet, thats horrible, how could you!" When we turn right around and eat Cow, I know some people who have cows as pets. So aren't we doing the same thing? We are eating an animal someone has as a pet. I just dont' see how we can say that what I eat is ok, but what you eat is not ok. And it's not like you can say one animal is smart while the other isn't, Cows are intellegent, I know one, his name is Dustin. He is VERY smart. Same with the other cows at my aunts milk farm. They all are smart.

To answer your question, Yes, I eat meat.

Ashley

Hmm

What I was going at was that cows, & pigs are our supplement of food. They are the ones who gives us our hamburger to eat, out bacon, and steaks. I said that because that IS where most of our food come from. not like a rabbit or something.

Yes I eat meat. Probably always will, but there are some I never will again. Lately I can't stand steak I use to love it, now I could care less if I ever eat it again.

I do, but I wish I didn't. I refuse to eat baby animals (veal, lamb) but cows, pigs, chickens I will. The only seafood I like is tuna and crabs. I wish I had the willpower to stop but I don't.

i don't eat meat, only some seafood, but i don't really like it. i actually get phisically sick when i accidently eat some meat. i don't even get craving for it anymore. ew, just the thought of it makes me feel gross. i'm actually pretty picky when it comes to making veggies foods like at bbq's and stuff i won't eat stuff that's been cooked on the same grill after meat...i guess it annoys people, but it's the way i am i guess.

I'm guilty, I do eat meat. I know it kills animals, but I love hamburgers, hotdogs, salsbury steak (sp?), etc. Sorry all you animals I have taken a bite out of. It's nothing personal. RIP all of you animals that have died because of me.:(

Yes, I eat meat. I would die if I couldn't eat meat. I will become a carnivore before a vegiatarian. I eat meat from the store and meat that I got myself.

The only type of meat I really don't care for is pork, but bacon is ok, I hate pork chops- those are nasty.

I stopped eating red meat 25 years or so ago, and chicken was soon to follow. I was stuck behind one of the old time chicken trucks years ago, in swealtering heat on a highway. I thought 'if there's so many dead ones on the outside hanging out of crates, how many inside are dead'? And stopped that day. Seafood I haven't given up, but eat it in moderation.

I live on meat and couldn't live without it. Best food to me is a thick, dripping juicy steak.. Mmmm my mouth is watering just thinking about it..

Seriously though, I tried eating no meat, and that lasted about 2 weeks. I just love my meat too much

I do, but I don't really like it. I used to up until a year or two ago, now meat just tastes absolutely awful to me. I do like chicken depending on how its cooked, some types of fish and some pork also depending on how its cooked.

I've been a vegetarian for 6 years, since I was 8 years old. I started young:rolleyes: you wouldn't believe how much my family tried to persuade me to eat meat again, but I defyed them all:rolleyes: I just can't make myself eat an animal.

Yup I eat meat and have no problem doing it. We have our pigs and steer raised for meat so at least while they are alive they have a great life and are never put through the abuses of commercially raised animals. I don't feel guilty about eating meat at all, but I do feel horrid for the way commercial animals are treated before slaugther and there should be an end to that.

Most vegetarians/vegans do know what meat is like, we weren't born vegetarian and most have sampled meat in our lives. For me, it's not just the fact that meat comes from dead animals, but I personally hate the way it flakes up in your mouth. Even though I've not eaten meat for 6 years, I still remember that. But some people do like meat and that's fine with me.

I remember when I announced to my family that I would become vegetarian, and I was 8 years old. At first, they didn't believe me, and thought it was just one of those phases that 8-year-olds go through. My dad said that I'd probably been watching too much Animal Hospital and had become soft towards animals. When I was still refusing meat 6 months later, they really tried to get me to eat meat again, at first saying 'the animal doesn't suffer' or the more harsh 'you won't grow properly without meat'. Believe me, it's not easy to be a veggie in a family of meat eaters. You wouldn't believe the pressure. Going to family parties, and having to delay the meals being served because you need a vegetarian meal. Not being able to take part in the family Sunday roast. It doesn't sound like much, but it is. But strangely, I became more determined to not eat meat. Now I can't imagine myself ever eating meat, and never get any 'hunger' for it.

I know that a lot of people say it's OK to eat pigs, cows etc, but I've always seen it like this: the cows/pigs etc all are alive, just like dogs/cats etc, so it shouldn't be right to kill and eat certain animals. A lot of people will disagree with that, but that is my own personal approach to this subject.

I must say Miss Z that no matter whether folks agree with you (or not), you are quite elegant in your prose. You are a VERY GOOD WRITER for a young lady of 14 years (if my math is right). If you didn't hint at your age, I would've thought you to be in your 30's.

Yep I eat meat and I have no desire to change. My husband and father both hunt, so we eat venison. I also eat a good bit of chicken, fish, seafood, and others. I believe that God put animals on the earth for us to eat, as stated in the bible.

I do eat meat occasionally. I'm actually working towards becoming a vegetarian, my parents are completely against it though and can't understand why I wouldn't want to eat animals anymore. Soo, I'm hoping once I can get away from them and I go off to college I can finally do it and won't have to be questioned by them.
