I've always made the dogs their "own" birthday cake. It's not necessarily "cake" but I use their kibble (Breakfast or dinner serving) and add some special things on top like peanut butter, carrots, crackers, tiny bit of honey, and whatever dog-safe yummy things on top. :D They love it!

The Pet store we go to (Tail Blazers) has a dog cook book, they have some cake recipes
I just make real cake  just not chocolate. I have made yellow cake, angel food cake, white cake, etc.. then I ice it with either dream whip or frosting. I have made Rainbows, apples, smiley faces, dog houses, just a regular cake, um a tennis ball...etc.. I try to design the cake to the dogs liking lol Perky loves aplles so I made her a cake shaped like an apple, Happy is a tennis ball freak so I made her a tennis ball cake.. I have pics I will see if I can find some of em ;)
I should probily metion that my dogs dont get the whole cake lol they each get one slice, and the birthday dog gets to lick the beaters and the bowl lol
seems most f my cake pics got wiped from the virus I found 2, Happys tennis ball cake, and Blairs angel food cake.
here is Happys, yellow cake frosted , with shredded coconut for the fuzzies
and Blairs angel food cake, frosted with dream whip, the main color is yellow, with blue writing

For Doggie B-Day cakes, I just get canned food, add a little dried dog food (or cat food... they love cat food lol), throw in some human food that dogs can eat (like cheese, peanut butter, etc), and add a milkbone on the top. :D
Easy to make, and the dogs LOVE it!
