People keep asking me if Axle is an illigal pet or they tell me he is illigal. I don't hear too much from PT, but alot else where & alot at home. Company comes & they tell me to go get Axle, I do & they tell the company its an illigal animal!!!! I get so darn mad, I walk away grumbling.

Well I finally found one of websites I read years back.
Game Reptiles & the Law (http://www.carcnet.ca/english/legal/legalON.html)
I'll addmit, I was wrong in some termology. I said pest, when it should have been game animal. opps. Nonetheless Axle is NOT illigal!!

I copied Chapter 3, section 40, subsection b. Just so u don't have to read the whole thing :)

(b) a person who keeps in captivity for the purpose of personal education a single game reptile, game
amphibian, …, specially protected reptile, specially protected amphibian … (for details on release see
section 46(4)); (Note: It is illegal to keep more than one individual of any species of game or specially protected reptile or amphibian in captivity. It is also illegal to keep more than one individual under these categories in captivity (i.e. one individual each of several species). This subsection was put in place to recognize that well-meaning individuals, often children for the home or classroom, pick up an animal which they find interesting. Individuals may possess this animal indeterminately. Release is not necessarily encouraged, unless it is immediate and in the location where the animal was captured. All other sections of the Act apply and an animal kept in captivity under section 40(2)(b) may not be sold, bred, consumed, served or killed.

Heres what class Axle is in, so the above makes sence...

o! thats a sin people are nagging at you about owning Axle! I live on a lake and there are a few snapping turtles. My sister always goes and catches them then puts them back later. I think there is 2 or 3 in the lake. One is old and it's jaw is all out of place and the other ones are a bit smaller. We haven't caught any this year yet though.

Tell me about it. Thats why I don't bring Axle out of my room unless Rob's parents aren't here. Then he goes outside & romps around in the grass. & then when I get tired of chasing him all around the yard I bring him inside & he romps around on the tile floor & bugs the dogs... hehehe

Next year I plan to take him to the vet for a checkup. & register him at the vets. I might get him tagged (or something) to prove he's mine. I will NOT chip him, not after what happened last time

Good for you. Print that out and keep copies of it with you to give to ignorant people! Then, if they're visiting in warm weather and wearing sandles, make up something like "Oh, he's really tame, but he likes to chomp on people's toes" just to keep 'em guessing! ;)

It's illegal here in Wisconsin unless you obtain a permit from the WIDNR.

That's good you found proof!

I found the proof years back, I only wanted to see if I could keep him. it said yes so I thought nothing of it. But as the years go on, more & more people keep telling me he's illegal & didn't care what I said. So now they can "stick that in their pipe & somke it" :)

Always wanted to say that :)

Not many places in the usa allow Common Snapping Turtles as pets. UNLESS they r an imported pet. I got permission to move Axle to Florda & to Ca. (I was asking this cause I might have had to move out there).

& I don't think anywhere allows Aligatior Snapping Turtles as a pet. Since they r endangered in the usa & canada

I have a ferret and people are always asking me if he's illegal as well... I was like yeah thats why they're selling them at the pet shop down the road

Jods it was either that or thay all would be called Mike. Thats what Rob wants to name all my pets. Our snake was Mike. My first rat was Mike, The turtle was Mike until I said I have enough Mikes in my room & ran a poll to pick a better name.

Funny thing is that Jack & Oscar r females hehehehe
I only learned that about a year ago, so thay r stuck with their names heheh
