I just noticed that my Ilio has a big lump on the side of him. :( I don't think it's a tumor because I know tumors start small and get bigger... A tumor couldn't have grown that fast... My best guess is maybe it's just puss build-up from an injury?? I have no idea... :( :( I'm going to call the vet tomorrow to see if I can bring him in..
I'm so worried about what's wrong with my baby!! :( Ilio's only a year and a half old...

Poor Ilio :(It sounds like it could be an abcess which needs to be drained and cleaned. Good luck at the vet! Keep us posted!

I know that my other cat that has been around since I was 12 (whom lives with my father b/c I have grown up and moved out...kitties of my own),Missy, has a lump on the side of her throat..had it for a long time. Dad finally went to get it checked out and it isn't anything serious...but the vet gave an antibiotic that will cause it to drain. It doesn't bother her at all. Hopefully it's the same type of thing. Best wishes!

Just got back from the vet...
Poor Ili has an abcess. He also had a fever - his temp was 105. :( They're going to drain it and clean it tomorrow morning, so I left him there over night (I have to leave early tomorrow morning for school and won't have time to take him in). The whole thing (anesthesia, getting it cleaned, etc) is going to be $441. :\ But it's definitely worth it to make Ilio get better!
Here's a pic I took of the lump before we left for the vet's.
Sorry it's not a very good picture.. It was hard to get a picture of it!

Poor Ilio. A temp of 105 sounds painful.

I’ll bet he is going to feel much better once the abscess is drained.
Most likely you are going to have to give him antibiotic for a while.
Did he get into a fight with another cat?
Many get Poor Ilio! That sounds painful.
well wishes for Ilio and keep us updated.
I just looked at the beautiful pictures you posted.
He is so adorable!

Glad to hear it is "only" an abscess. Hope he will heal quickly and stay away from whatever caused his nasty boo boo!!!:( ;)

I'm not sure what caused it... He sometimes picks on his sister, Lali, but they've never gotten serious about it, just mostly fooling around and teasing her... like most siblings  So I really don't know what caused it...:( Well, however he got it, I hope it doesn't happen again!
He has his surgery tomorrow morning, and I will be picking him up in the afternoon. I get home from school by 4, so I'll pick him up then. I really hope his surgery goes well! He was so well-behaved when the vet took a look at him and took his temp and stuff. :) He's such a good kittie.

I know how worried you must be Diana - but he'll be fine. Keeping fingers crossed for poor Ilio - he'll feel so much better when it's been cleaned out.
Dan has had regular (well about 5) abscesses! He's always very poorly and with the last one it was touch and go if he was going to lose his ear - he didn't! Trouble is - he's a fighter. Always getting into scraps and we're almost sure the last one was caused by Bagel biting his ear - he never knows when to call it a day!
Chin up and gently nose kissies across the miles to Ilio xxxx

Awww poor Ilio. I'm glad it's not too serious though. I"m sure the fever will go down once the abcess has gone down. Hope everything goes very well.
