I'm getting promoted!

I thought that I would share some good news with everyone, plus I could use some cheering up since Corkscrew is ill :(

Today at work the owner came in, we don't see him very often since he owns 7 coffee shops plus a popular night club in town. So he asks to speak to me and asks me if I'm ready to take on some more repsonsiblity, and of course I said yes. Then he said that next week I will start training because he wants me to be an assistant manager! I haven't even been there a month and I'm already being promoted! I do feel bad though because there are other people who have worked at the store longer than me yet I was chosen to become an assistant manger. So hopefully this pay raise will help to cover the vet bills that I'm going to paying off for a while!

I will tell you that when I started my job, 4 years ago, the same thing happened to me. I was 18 and had been there only a couple months and was promoted to ass. manager. There was 1 girl who had been there for 6 months longer then me and she wanted that job. She was in her 40's and hated that an 18 year old got the job that she wanted. She snubbed me everyday there on, she was always mean to me. I did my best to kill her with kindness. She ended up getting fired for not being a "team player".

Laura, this is GREAT news and GREAT timing! How old you are and how long you have been there doesn't matter. You are obviously a good worker and deserve the promotion. Before long, you may be running the store! Then you will travel a bit and open new stores, then you will have a chain and then you will be district manager and then...:D
