I was on Petfinder - I know I don't need another dog - but I was looking near Melbourne, Fl where Carl is living and found this

Notes: These precious little souls will touch your heart and enrich your life! Left at a shelter by their owner to die, the kindness of the shelter staff helped them find thier way to our rescue. They are senior dogs who have always been together. They are 9-11 years of age and weigh about 10-12 pounds each. Other than needing their teeth cleaned, they seem to be in good health. They are not barkers, and seem to enjoy each others company almost as much as being held and giving kisses. It is our hope that they will spend their remaining years in a loving home - together. Will it be yours? Update: We have done the dentals they so desperately needed. It is amazing the difference it has made. They are playful, wonderfully affectionate and the most delightful little characters! Many have said $1000 was a tremendous amount of money to spend on 4 little old dogs when there are so many others in need. But that is how they are saved.....one at a time. Or in this case 4 at a time! They are ready for a new home - together.

Who would be so mean to leave them at some shelter? Those sweeties gave someone the best years of their lives and how are they are rewarded? I can't imagine why someone wouldn't try to rehome them themselves if there was really some way they couldn't keep them or at least get them into a rescue rather than leave them at a shelter. Some people!

Oh dear! Even at 9-11 years of age they have lots of years and lots of life yet! I do hope that someone is able to take all four. How upsetting it would be to be separated at this point. If not together, then I hope each and every single one can find a loving forever home. *sigh*

Oh ParNone - how about a couple of Cairns? :)

Those precious babies are so cute. I just know they'll find a home! I see it on Petfinder all the time at a local pound two and three dogs dropped off together  And when surrendering them like that they could be PTS immediately if there is not enough room. And many of them are older too!

Things like that happen all the time. It's sad but true.
And it's one of the reasons why I volunteer at a no-kill shelter.
And it's why all my animals are rescues except Rien. 1 out of 4 ain't bad.

What little cuties!! I hope the poor things find a kind soul to keep them together for their remaining years.

Gawd. Sometimes I just feel like losing all hope in humans. :( But then I think about the kind souls that saved them. Thank God for some people. :)

They are adorable. I hope they all find homes in which to live out their last years with dignity and peace.

Very sad, the 4 are the cutest senior pups.
I agree it is a horrible thing to do.
I wonder if their owner died?
What ever the reason, the person who did this
was very cold.

Poor lil' guys. They look so depressed in the picture. I can't imagine anyone giving up a senior. That's when they need you most. :(

I'd love another terrier, especially a Cairny. Don't come much sweeter than them, but Murph says no other terriers in the family, while he's around. At 14, he's finally got his chance to shine and be in charge over the Collies, so it wouldn't be fair to him to disrupt that.

I hope they can find a place where they can all stay together, because they sound very attached to each other.

The poor dears. :( They do look depressed, but it may have been a situation where the owners were elderly, and their kids brought the dogs in, and threw the folks in a nursing home. :( They look like such sweet dogs, and they must feel much better with pearly white(ish) choppers. ;)
