Does anyone elses dog or dogs stare at them for long periods of time in the middle of the nite?
It sounds funny but i wake up a lot finding my girl staring at me and so i take her outside and see if she has to go out and she doesnt , then i go back to bed and she gets back in her spot and stares at me til i fall asleep. ( she has her own room so she comes in mine and sits in the floor to do this)

This is the face she does ,

Oh im so glad not to be the only one i was begining to think she knew i was going to die, you know how animals can sense things?
I was watching an animal show where a ladys rott did weird stuff and it turned out he was trying to warn her of a health condition. Poochies are VERY smart.

But im glad to know other dogs do it just for kicks, haha

Tommy stares at my husband and I a lot. I actually think of it more as "gazing" because it looks like such a content and loving look. He will lay and gaze at us until he finally can't keep his eyes open any longer and he falls asleep.

Yes gazing sounds more like it, it's very sweet.

My Star does that in the wee early morning hours. I'll wake up to find her standing over me on the bed, just waiting for me to show some sign of life...she thinks 3am is a fine time to go out for a little ball throwing:D Rita, I'd love to have that face staring at me:)

I almost hate to bring this up-- ;)

but it seems I read that staring can be a sign of mild aggression? That they are trying to stare you down, in other words? Ever since then, whenever Lefty stares at me I look back at him until he looks away--I make sure I'm smiling or talking sweetly to him, though.

Yeah whenever she stares at me i do the same and she always turns away , now if i stare at my Rott he gets mad, not vicious mad but barking and romping around it's pretty cute .:D

Rocky only stares at me in bed when he wants to
go outside or he wants pets. He is wide eyed and bushy
tail. (I might not be) ;)

LOL! I guess if I was sick and he was staring at me,
I might worry a little after your post.
I love her picture. :)

Buddy NEVER sleeps at night. I think he feels he has to stay awake and protect me during the night. I hear his tags all night long, just walking room to room in the house.

Snowy doesn't stare. She just licks! I swear that dog could lick someone to death!

Sadie only stares intensely at me in the middle of the night when she has . .ahem . . diarrhea. Either I feel her stare or her painful grunting actually starts before I wake up. Poor girl, fortunately it's rare.
