Good Bye, My Sweet One

My mom had to put her baby and my first pet and canine friend, Mercedes to sleep yesterday. She was 14 years old. She was fine one day and very sick the next. Turns out she had cancer / tumor in her heart and it was filling it with blood, causing her great pain. While they could have done surgery and drained the blood, it would keep filling up every few hours. Mercedes was a Bichon and was a very gentle, sweet, loving girl. One of my favorite things about Mercedes is how she would try and 'trick' you into giving her treats by pretending to use the bathroom. She would look at you like look I did my duty, where is my reward and even though you knew she was faking, you gave her a treat just for being too darn cute. She taught me how special our animal friends are and how priveledged we are to know and care for them even though their time here seems all too fleeting. That's probably cause God misses them so. We knew this day would come as she was getting on in years, but it's just so painful. Please say a prayer for my mom as she is having an extremely difficult time right now and feels very guilty. Even though I try to console her and let her know she made the best decision she could, I'm afraid it doesn't ease her pain. The wounds are still new as this was only yesterday, so I know in time things will get better. I just wanted to give a litle tribute to Mercedes. God has received a very special girl and I know he is loving her with all his might right now. Until we meet again, sweet one.......I love you.

:( Both you and your mother are in my prayers. Please tell your mom not to feel guilty. She made the most selfless choice of all by letting Mercedes go on to the Rainbow Bridge. I know it is very difficult right now, but it will get better. Been there myself twice this year. Take care!:(

Oh how wonderful & sweet Mercedes sounded. I can feel your moms pain. We miss them so much when they leave us. I will be keeping her in my prayers.

Dear Mercedes. You're a beautiful fur angel now, gracing the Rainbow Bridge with your loving spirit. But you know, for us, well, we humans grieve so deeply when we lose our beloved furkids. Yes, God was in a need of a very special furangel to be by his side. But your earthly legacy is great and your surely have left your pawprints on your family's heart. You gave your sister and mom and all your friends and family the greatest gift of all. You taught them how very special and exquisite animal love can be. Yes, we are privileged and blessed to know your love and sadly, the price we pay for that unconditional love is that you leave us too soon. Your sister's tribute to you brought tears to my eyes. You may no longer be of this earth, but forever and always you will live on in their hearts and memories. And sometime, in the distant future, you and your family will be reunited in love:) Romp and run happy and healthy at the Rainbow Bridge, Mercedes.
