Hey,

I would post this is Pet Health but that forum seems pretty dead ...

Anyway, I have a quick question for you Hamster Pro's out there. Well my hamster, Emmett, has recovered from so-called Wet-Tail and is very active .. climbing his cage, running in the wheel, and eating and drinking normally. But his ears aren't gone back to normal, they're still pinned back. Here's the differnce:

Now:

They're practically non-existant they're so pinned back. Anyone know what this could mean?

Another thing - do you know how to get hamsters to stop biting fingers?? I'm actually nervous picking him up because he bites my fingers every time .. and it darn hurts too!

I don't have any advice to offer, but I wanted to say Emmett's adorable! Hoep he feels better soon.

I never could get my hamster, Teddy to quit biting me. He bit clean through my fingernail once. OUCH!

don't know about the wet tail but really wash your hands before handeling him we are always sweating and it tastes and smells salty to little ones... Espscially since they can't see very well...
Well good luck

First of all Emmett is adorable!

Not sure about the ears thing, but you might want ask your vet about it.

As for biting, make sure your hands are clean, and don't smell like food. Or if he still bites you I would try gloves until he gets used to you.

EMMETT IS SOOOOOO CUTE!:D

Im not sure about the ears thing...but for the biting

I think this might be the problem..so i hope i can help:)

When you say you pick him up nervously..... animals can sense fear... so when you pick him up maybe he senses your nervous so he bites you to protect him self...

Also before you pick him up wash your hands with soap and water.. and rub your hands in his shavings (that are in his cage) so you get his sent on your hands.... so he won't think of it as a threat kind of thing:)

Hope I could help!:)

thanks :) I think I should wear gloves .. I'm uneasy about picking him up when he goes to take a chomp at my finger everytime I go near him! ;)
