Ok, I have done How Did You Get Your Cat on Cat General, How Did You Get Your Dog on Dog General, and now its time for How Did You Get Your Pet?

I got RB Fluffy from a Petland near my house when I was around 4. I guess I liked the pretty white hamsters with the pinkish eyes!

Taffy was also gotten from the same Petland after Fluffy went to the rainbow bridge. (She had a pouch infection. :( ) Taffy was the only guinea pig that didn't run for cover into the igloo when my dad stuck his hand in the cage. So, after talking to my mom we decided to get him. I was so scared someone else would have bought him by then, t hough!

[My Peanuts]

I got Alex (Alexis), my first cockatiel about 8 years ago. I got her at Petsmart for my 16th birthday. I called a ton of places, but no one had hand raised tiels. The Petsmart that had them was not that close to my house so my mom and dad drove me. There was a beautiful Lutino and Alex (a normal grey) My mom and dad thought I would take the Lutino, but I picked Alex. I knew she was supposed to leave with us.

I got Danny, another tiel because my boyfriend found him in his friend's backyard. His friend is named Danny, so that's what I named the tiel.

My third cockatiel, Milton, came from a shelter in Madison, WI. Madison is about a 3 1/2 hour drive, but I wanted to adopt, so I took the ride.

My four, and final, cockatiel Evie came from a nice little pet shop that hand raised them. The poor birdies got an infection while at the store or from the breeder and the store paid to get them well. A lot of Evie's brothers and sisters didn't make it. I picked her out about a month and a half before she came home and before they got the infection. Since Evie fought so hard and made it, I knew she was meant to be mine :)

I got my holland lop Eeyore from our county fair. His mother was the best in breed and his father was the best in show. There were 5 tiny baby bunnies for sale. In the back sat the runt of the little. The minute I walked over the the cage he came hopping over and put his little paw on my hand. I couldn't resist!

My palomino came from a lady about 2 hours upstate from us. She was quite pregnant and was selling her two horses. I fell in love with Sweets the minute I saw her...oh how I miss my her:( She was such an amazing horse.

I got Domino, my American Satin cavy, from a breeder. He's a champion guinea pig in shows too, with the perfect form and fur for his class. He's a great pal, even if he is glamorous, and I love him! His buddy was Cuddles, but he passed away last year. now he's all alone, but I give him as much attention as I can! :)

uhhh scribbles and doodles I got from pats pets, cinder, sniffles, and stubby I got from master feeds. Kari I got from the shelter, friskit and missy I got from A-1 Aquarium the rest of the piggies are friskit and missy kids born here. my betta I got from A-1 Aquarium, and the sword tails came with the tank(housewraming gift from my dads RCMP Depot) a whole varity of fish came with the tank but the sword tails are the only ones that we still have. :p

I got Cleo from the local PetCo. I went there to buy food for some fishys I had at the time and she caught my attention with her antics. *Very outgoing ratty!*

Rogue I got from a local breeder. Cleo was getting lonely and I wanted to get her a friend *several PTers suggested that ratties do better in pairs and its so true!* I went to the breeders house and I KNEW she was my ratty from the moment I saw her. Her personality is similar to Cleos and they ALWAYS are playing together!

Dorian Gray was a present I got for myself from the pet store I used to work at. I cared for the leo geckos every day and became facinated by them. I finaly bit the bullet and took one home after I was sure I knew about them enough to provide the best care. She is such a sweet little girl!

I've always loved rats and have wanted one for awhile but I was always worried that Corkscrew would try to attack and since my apt is so small I don't have an extra room to keep the rattie in.

One day I was going to the petstore with my girlfriend (who has rats) and asked if I wanted to get a rat today. She said that I could keep it at her house as long as I promised to play with her and take care of her. So of course I jumped at the chance!

We looked at all the ratties there, I knew I wanted a brown rat and I wanted a female so I asked to see those Mokey was the first rat he took out for me and I knew she was perfect. I've now had her for about 3 months now.

We got Piper and Neko at Petco.

For our Tortoises, the story's kind of long, so I'll make it as short as possible. :p Frankie was brought into rescue after being run over by a car. My aunt got him, and gave him to us.
For the "babies" we have, one of my mom's friends had a few baby Desert Tortoises, and my mom took a couple (5), off her hands.

Well, my very first 2 rabbits Hopper and Floppy were given to me by my Mom's friend. She had a litter of 7 little English Spot/Angoras, I believe and all the babies she wasn't able to sell were going into a rabbits stew...:eek: :( so we ended up taking 2...instead of just 1. As for my other 10 or so rabbits I've had...lol that could take a while...lol :D

Lily was a gift from my mom when I had my wisdom teeth out. (I love you mom! :D) She was from Petco.

Amelia we got from Petco a few months later.

One of my goldfish was from an aquarium store, and the other was from Petco.

And Benjamin was from a country fair. ^_^

I got Squishy(my peruvian guinea pig) from an apt. in Texas while I was in vaca for christmas. The owner was just giving him away

My dogs we bought and all the cats are rescued

I got Merry and Pippin from a small locally owned pet food and supplies store, they were 5$ each, I couldent resist their cute little faces!..

I got Nimbus in a feeder bin at a petstore called Total pet, he was sitting in there with a bunch of other rats, and he had the hugest dumbo ears!! I picked him up and just fell in love, I had to buy him. He was also 5$.

And my newest addition Sephiroth I got from a breeder. He was 50$. But worth every penny and so much more. :D

i got Lucy ,my teil, from a lady that could no longer care for him because she was ill and all of the sudden had to find new homes for ALL her animals. she asked my mm's boss if she would like to have her since she know she loves animals. she said "sorry.i only take dogs and cats." my mom overheard her and ran into the room asking how much he was because she knew i'd LOVE to have him. she said as long as a promise to take care of him i can have him for free. so he came to live with me and my family.we LOVE him to bits!!!:D

Where to start??

Baby (goffin cockatoo) - I bought her from a lady who was selling her and didn't give a flip about the bird. :( I felt baby needed me.
Oscar (indian ringneck)- He was my dad's bird, but my dad was allergic to him.
Romi (lovebird)- she was flying around the car dealership that my mom works at. A salesman caught her and gave her to my mom to bring home to me.
Casper (cockatiel)- I had bought him as a companion for my RB tiel Sunny.
Skye (cockatiel)- He flew into my moms neighbors garage.
Doodle (cockatiel)- his companion died and he was morning so his owner asked me to take him because I have other tiels.
Max (cockatiel)- his previous owner didn't want him and brought him to my work and he then came home with me.
Caramel bunny- was a rescue, he was an easter gift to 3 kids who were sick of him after only a couple months.
The 3 chinchillas- were from a woman who was very sick and could no longer take care of them.
Wyatt- was from a family who was sick of him.
the 3 mice- were so pose to be snake food, but I wanted to keep them.
Flick (snow corn snake)- We bought right after we bought our house. It was the only thing Justin wanted from the time he was a little kid.
Angel (red tail boa)- Justin bought her
Bo (red tail boa)- I don't remember
Tarzan (jungle carpet python) Justin bought him
One day (ball python)- he was a rescue from a place Justin use to work.
Meatball (ball python)- he was abandoned at my work
Izzy(iguana) he was an abused iguana we rescued
Timmy (sulcata tortoise)- was a rescue from the same woman who had Izzy.
Split and Spot (sulcata tortoises)- my friend got them from a woman whe wasn't taking care of them and she gave them to us.

Phew (wipes sweat from forehead), I'm done.

I got all of my small pets from Pet Stores. All my dog's from shelters and my cat Buddy from a shelter and my cat Misty from a local barn.

lol, he is a leopard gecko. Almost three months old, and he is such a little piggie!

I got Gracie at our Pet store uptown called "Pet Round up" it's a very disgusting petstore, and when I saw a tank of baby dwarfs, I had to get one. They were practically eating each other because of no food. I picked up the little girl in the corner, and it was Gracie. If I never got her, she would be dead right now. But she's happy and healthy now. =)

I got Pinky aka Mousie from my brother when some seniors at school made a prank, and letted hundreds of mice in the school. My brother got one, and brought one home. He was orignallly going to feed it to his friends snake, but I wouldn't let him, and I got to keep her. =)

Spice- I got my bunny Spice(POTD February 5th 2004) from my aunt, who used to be a Mini Rex breeder. My 6 week old mini rex died the past year and I really wanted another sweet & soft Mini Rex from my aunt. I waited about 7 months for my aunt's doe,Muffin, to get pregnant, she finally had babies March 31st 2002 and each week from there I visited the babies. Finally at 3 weeks of age I could hold and choose my rabbit, it was an instant bond with Spice & I KNEW I had to have her! Sooo at 4 weeks old I took her home and we were best pals from then on! I love Spice!

Hershey- I got Hershey from Spice!LOL! When Spice was a litter over a year I bred her with Cinnamon(my best friends male rabbit) and sadly she had stillborns, then I bred her again and Hershey,Cadbury & Basil were born! We weren't gonna keep Hershey, we were going to keep Cadbury & Basil, but once Basil was diagnosed with a swollen brain and was supposed to die anyday we decided to keep Hershey. Sadly both Cadbury & Basil are dead now but I still have Hersh. He is now 1 year old and living with Spice(he's neutered of course!), they are pals! I love my HershiMersh!

Oreo- I got Oreo from the petstore. I was going to get a bunny from Pets Unlimited, they don't normally have healthy buns there and they only have a 15 day health garuntee and you'd have to actually take the dead body to show them! There was no bunnies there that we "clicked" with anyway so we decided to try Ruffin's. When we got there, there was a mother bun with 4 babies. We were going to get a baby but they were all already sold. Then the petstore owners said the mother bunny was free to a good home. Not turning down the offer and knowing what kind of home she might end up in or she may have even ended up as snake food or a target for a training hunter we took her! We named her Oreo since she really looks like an Oreo cookie! So here is Oreo with us today,perfectly litterbox trained and trained but nervous of humans(I'm working on that!). She'd gotten quite far from June 1st 2004, the day we got her. She recently had a litter of 6, I am keeping 2 babies, Caramel and Fudgeo!

Well, I could see how Laura got confused. You listed off your other rats then talked about the new addition without mentioning what kind of pet he was. I also assumed he was a rat since you didn't say otherwise.

We got Miss Hoppy from a local petstore after checking with local rescues and finding no bunnies available for adoption. We had looked at the petstore and liked a sweet little black bunny, but when we went back to get a bunny, that one ran away from my hand, whereas the little solid caramel-colored one hopped right over to me, sniffed my hand and went up on her hind legs and looked at me cuiously - that was it! That's my bunny!

I had two wonderful kitties, Patches and Magic who are now at the R/B. But during their life with me a young unneutered male orange guy kept coming into my back yard at 2:30-3:00am announcing to all of the girls who would listen THAT HE HAD ARRIVED!

He started hanging out with my two all day and he earned his name because during that time he was a complete RASCAL. He loved to start trouble............nothing serious.........just little stuff to keep life interesting. We took a little trip to the vets soon after that and ended his nighttime yowling.

Annie and Emma are castaway kitties from a feral litter that were born next door to me. The guy next door just announced to me one day that I COULD HAVE the last two cats. They were about nine months old at the time and just a week or so away from their first heat.

I lured them into my home and we made another trip to the vets.

And now there are three!!! Annie is a little love, Emma is a terror. Emma has broken two lamps...destroyed the underside of my bed.........sprayed on everything. Rascal is KING!

Bought all 3 fish from Al's aquairum Supplies (its a fish/pond store only).
Oscar & Jack r 3yrs old & Mango is 2 Yrs old.

I was fish with Rob back in Smiths Falls & I saw a baby snapping turtle floating in the water, with its head down & was heading to the water fall we were fishing off of. So I picked him up & something told me to put a rock in my bait pail & put him on it in the sun. about 30 mins later I went to the bait pail & he was looking up at me. I took him home.

I know the fate of snapping turtles in our town. I use to go & see this HUGE snapping turtle weekly, sunbathing on shore. & one day I found her head there.

I ran home & told my parents & my friend. My friends dad said duh. All snapping turtle r killed in town. Its lucky its been here that long.

& now Axle is 4 years old & weighs 15 pounds hehehe
My first snapping turtle lived to his 4th winter with me & he wasn't even 1 pound. He was soo tiny. So its a shock to see how big Axle is already hehehe.. But I don't care, he's my big & less handsom baby... Saddly he's kinda getting ugly & mean looking. I knew those cute lines on his face wouldn't last for ever. But he's staying here no matter how ugly he gets hehehe
