THIS IS A CRITICAL URGENT ALERT
Two activists (Marijo Gillis and Diane Alden) are now in Athens meeting with
members of the Greek government in an attempt to get Greece to change its
laws and policies toward animals.
If you didn't already know, Greece has been systematically exterminating
its homeless animal population to "clean up" the streets prior to the 2004
Olympics. They have been killing animals by poisonings, crushed glass left
out in food, hangings, burnings, and more. The situation these animals face
is so horrendous it cannot be put into words. If you saw the pictures, you
would be sobbing, as I have been.
YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE RIGHT NOW.
PLEASE, the timing is critical.
The government, the Olympic Committee, Marijo and Diane will be holding
press conference about this issue on Thursday to announce whatever decisions
are made regarding the future of these animals. PLEASE take a moment to
write a few lines to the authorities telling them:
"Change your laws and stop killing animals. We will boycott Greece and the
Olympics and tell everyone else we know to do the same. Greece is not the
Cradle of Civilization, it is the Cradle of Devastation"
or something similar.
